Ranger Saltbitch,
Understood.
It wasn't my intention to come across as a "know-it-all." I have been no where and was only giving him the perspective of what to expect in an ROTC program.
Advise taken and utilized.

Rucking is very important. ROTC calls it the Ranger Run, in reality its the standard 12-mile Ruck Run. Put 35-pounds in your ruck not counting additional chow and water. The only way to adjust to rucking is to practice it. Don't be a hero your first ruck run.
5.) Your going to be issued very uncomfortable boots. I recommend getting a pair of Altama Jungle Boots with Ripple Soles. They work for me but it is your personal preference.
First, don't go advising ANYONE on here to go 'ruck running'. This kid doesn't even have a ruck; he has a DUFFLE BAG. Or did you not see that in his post? He already said he wasn't in the greatest shape....you give out advice like that (like you know something) and his next few posts will be in the 'Medical Forum' asking about shin/knee/lower back and other orthopedic problems. Get this straight DEPs: YOU DO NOT NEED TO BE RUNNING WITH A RUCKSACK AT THIS POINT IN YOUR LIVES.
Second, you should get used to wearing shitty boots now, 'cause guess what you'll be wearing? Any takers? THE BOOTS MADE BY THE LOWEST BIDDER.
SomeCockWrestler, if I see you posting some bullshit again *like you've BEEN somewhere*, it's gonna be your ass. We clear?

Ever notice when Ranger Saltbitch joins in it's like an F-16 on an attack run? Nice strafing run, Ranger. Not to mention....on target. ....and Sun Devil,... very, very intelligent response to Ranger Saltbitch.

yeah, well just to get a feel, I was going to just go running this afternoon for 2miles probably with some 35lbs in my army duffel, I am in shape, just not the best, if I was in the best of shape I could run my 3mile in 18mins and a 2mile in 12, but my 2mile is only 15-16mins, and i can easily max out situps in 2mins or w/e, and get in a good 50-60pushups, but that isn't really shit compared what what I'm reading on these boards, so thats why I'm not in the "best of" shape. Thanks for the concern though Rangers.

That statement didn't require a response nor was one expected. No one wants to hear what you think or how you feel. You should only be concerned about the training required to get where you're going.Mr_Chris wrote:So, with all due respect, I should just sit on my ass until I get commissioned and then start training?Saltbitch wrote:I hope you break your back, jackass. :?
Yes, I did go ruckin` today and I only went 2miles and no I didn't break my back..
You can become the football real easy around here. You probably just did.

ALRIGHT MOTHERFUCKER; YOU WANT TO PLAY 'FUCK-AROUND' WITH ME, DO YA?!Mr_Chris wrote:So, with all due respect, I should just sit on my ass until I get commissioned and then start training?Saltbitch wrote:I hope you break your back, jackass. :?

First off, I truly, without reservation, DO NOT give a fuck about you or your 'status'. I could care less what you do until you start training. You came here, asked a question, and got an answer. The answer you got was from someone who doesn't know shit from shine-ola; I corrected that individual for EVERYONE's benefit, not just your own. Now you want to come back here and yell 'Nyah nyah in your face, Ranger Saltbitch'?!
Do you know how many kids come on here, ask questions and obtain advice, only to come back after a while to say,"You guys were right, now I've got to deal with my mistake...."? You are not one of a kind; you are the norm (unfortunately). Rangering is hard business, mentally and physically. It will break you down and wear you out further and faster than you can possibly imagine. Maybe you should take someone's advice who actually knows? Hmmm? Sounds like a solid idea to me...
Someone may be trying to help you, but you can't recognize it because you are too hell-bent on 'not sitting on your ass' and all to ready to 'get to training'. Let me tell you something, you need to work on those weak-ass PT scores instead of trying to do something without the proper equipment.
THIS IS THE POINT I WAS TRYING TO MAKE: If you load up just any old pack with weight, you are at the very least wasting your time. You are in reality probably setting yourself up for a life-long injury. If you load a fucking dufflebag with any real weight, and carry it for any real distance (ie, training weight/distance) you will hurt yourself. Maybe not the first time; but it is a fact. YOU DO NOT NEED TO BE RUNNING WITH ANY KIND OF PACK ON AT THIS POINT IN YOUR LIVES. PERIOD.
On a more personal note, mr.chris, you'd better address every Ranger and Veteran on this board in accordance with the rules of this forum. You'd better straighten the fuck up; this is not a 'touchy-feely' environment that caters to kids. This is a place for Rangers and our esteemed friends to get together and shoot the shit. If you don't like it, GET THE FUCK OUT.
We're done here.
