New Here.
Hello,
My name is Chris, I'm 17, and I just started the senior year at my highschool.
I plan on going to college, doing rotc there and (depending on my grades), really hoping I make it into Air Assault School and Airborne School during my summers at college so I can get the experience.
Right now I am a bit undecided on what I plan to do. However, I would really like the honor of trying to become an Army Ranger, being the best our Country can offer.
I have to admit I haven't, untill recentlly, gotten serious with my workouts. I have played highschool sports since freshman year, but we all know that really doesn't mean anything. I have been doing this marine workout so far, but now that I've browsed these forums, I've found a good pre-ranger pt workout that I'll be starting.
I really appreciate these boards as well as the rangers who run them. Thanks. And hopefully you will be able to provide me with some good incite.
*One thing, "ruck sacking", can I just use my Dad's old army duffle and stuff some weights in there and use that and I basically just go running with that on in countryside terrain?

True, I was just basically saying I didn't want others to feel that I was somehow "in shape" for the Military just because I play sports and that I automatically have some edge; because what I do now is nothing compared to what I will have to do.certiorari wrote:Welcome, PM on the way.
You can be suprised at how much a difference high school sports can make.

Welcome.
Points on the schooling process for college cadets:
1.) You must be contracted with the Army
2.) If you are squared-away, you can expect to get atleast 1 school before commissioning
3.) You'll need to be atop your Order of Merit List for your school. Cadet Command only gets a limited number of slots, competition is intense. This means you need to max your PT score and maintain over a 3.0 GPA.
4.) Rucking is very important. ROTC calls it the Ranger Run, in reality its the standard 12-mile Ruck Run. Put 35-pounds in your ruck not counting additional chow and water. The only way to adjust to rucking is to practice it. Don't be a hero your first ruck run.
5.) Your going to be issued very uncomfortable boots. I recommend getting a pair of Altama Jungle Boots with Ripple Soles. They work for me but it is your personal preference.
Good luck with it. If you have any other questions don't hesitate to PM me.

Hey there, HERO....I don't recall that we gave ANY DEPShits or College Fags permission to 'square away' any of the new guys. Who the fuck are you, anyway?SunDevilWrestler wrote:4.) First, don't go advising ANYONE on here to go 'ruck running'. This kid doesn't even have a ruck; he has a DUFFLE BAG. Or did you not see that in his post? He already said he wasn't in the greatest shape....you give out advice like that (like you know something) and his next few posts will be in the 'Medical Forum' asking about shin/knee/lower back and other orthopedic problems. Get this straight DEPs: YOU DO NOT NEED TO BE RUNNING WITH A RUCKSACK AT THIS POINT IN YOUR LIVES.
Second, you should get used to wearing shitty boots now, 'cause guess what you'll be wearing? Any takers? THE BOOTS MADE BY THE LOWEST BIDDER.
SomeCockWrestler, if I see you posting some bullshit again *like you've BEEN somewhere*, it's gonna be your ass. We clear?
