Montana also has a condition that they can succeed from the Union if their 2nd Amendment rights are violated on a Federal level. Somewhere there is a recent letter sent to the editor of the Washington Times by the Montana Attorney General.

That would be symbolic alone. Montana does not have a large enough population nor a diversified enough economy to live outside the union. It, un like Texas, does not have things that the US needs and that can become a major value export.

CHL laws are pretty good, and almost everyone is packing heat or willing to help out a fellow man (once you get out away from the cities) which has got to be appealing to any Ragnar.

Just my .02. I love my state.
I am offended.... j/k  I'm from the east coast in North Carolina! I'm not in Texas and i'm always packed as well 2 in the truck and 1 on me!

Personally I'm a big fan of North Carolina. If it wasn't here it would be Texas or Arizona or southern Colorado. Montana or wyoming is appealing, but a little cold. Possibly Florida.

Positives of NC.

Beautiful state
Good weather.
Beaches, mountains, and plenty of lakes.
Cost of living is low, housing pretty affordable.
BIG gun state.
Plenty of conservatives.
Not crowded.

Negatives.
EVERYONE else has figured the above out.
Too many Yankees moving here and wanted it to be like NYC, Boston, etc. See above.
Humidity in the summer (you get used to it-not as bad as Texas).

Aren't you originally a Yankee? Living in the south and being a Yankee has it's advantages, primarily when I am in a crowded room I am 90% certain that I am the only person who's family tree actually has branches.

Negative Ghostrider. California, which my wife says is just as bad. 90% of the people here seemed to be somewhere else, which definitely shapes the area. Me personally, I like to visit but wouldn't want to live is some of the more country places like east tenn or parts of south carolina.

NC also has an incredible education system if you have offspring. In state tuition is unbelievably low for university, and they rank very well for Government Schools.

Forgot to mention that.

Also, due to RTP (research triangle park) there is a higher percentage of people with higher education here then most places in the nation.

A spin off on Basicload's post, technically every state has a right to succeed. You choose to join a union, you can choose to leave. The reality is somewhat different however. Hence the Civil War. Arizona also has a thing in their constitution to succeede from the union under certain circumstances.

Like succeeding from the Union will stop a nuke attack... Texas can but then we'll get attacked by Rico's relatives in Mexico and end up having an Alamo all over again. Might as well just stay and fight it out...course, Id rather fight Mexico than The US.

Dear sweet baby Jesus, ya'll are killing me...the word is SECEDE

Succeed means to be successful....which most of you, apparently, were not in Spelling.

Only problem with that is you've got a Yankee on every fooking branch...not really something I'd go around bragging about.

Historically every single state has the ability to leave the Union. This was taught just about everywhere, to include West Point, until 1860. To date there have been three different secession threats, once from South Carolina, and the other two from New England states, and one actual secession by eleven Southern states, that led to the bloodiest war in our nation's history.

No one state has a monopoly on the ability to secede.

I disagree in terms of the fact that leaving the union is an IO issue and having the ability to prove that you were a republic prior to allowing yourself to be sucked into the union goes a long way to make people understand your horrific actions after you have raised the black flag.

If you have no IO message, then you are just another terror cell that must be destroyed with the full might of the federal GOVT.

It might sound like semantics to you, but to the federal soldiers you have an obligation to follow "lawful" orders, its a HUGE deal.

Your ability to have your soldiers fighting along side you as opposed to coming at you is directly related to your ability to sell your case.

Texas has a VERY strong case that they can tap out whenever they feel like it.

The rest of you might find yourself in the second bloodiest war in our nation's history.
