Rangers,

I was curious whether or not having a Ranger Tab will help you with your military career (rank progression wise) if you are enlisted and decide to drop an OCS packet in. I haven't been able to find a clear cut answer regarding this issue, as I have asked several ex Navy/Army men and their answers differ drastically. While my sole purpose isn't to get my Ranger tab for rank progression, the question still remains unanswered for me. That also led me to ask whether or not there are any programs that allow you to swap directly from serving as enlisted in the 75th to completing your necessary schooling and hopping in as an officer in the 75th.

The answer to the bolded part of your question is no. I will let someone who has gone that route answer the OCS question.

Ranger School makes a good soldier better. Your rank progression will be based on your performance. Service in the Ranger Regiment and / or Ranger School will challenge you to perform at your best like nothing else can. But whatever, your progress will be based on you and not a Tab.
