The Sleepy Doc wrote:I have no idea why after getting a RN license, on top of having a masters, you decide to enlist... but your reasons are your own. If you want to pursue a career in critical care/trauma/ER nursing, this is one way of doing it. You will definitely get a great foundation on patient examination and treatment in austere conditions. You will be very well trained in triage and treating multiple patients. It is a totally different animal than being an RN, as line medics don't do a lot of nursing type care. In fact, I'm surprised that the Army is letting you do this because they always have a shortage of nurses. You may find that as soon as they discover your RN someone in medical branch will say, "fuck that enlisted shit!" and make you an officer. If you really want to be a line medic in the Ranger Regiment, keep that shit on he down low. Either way, good luck!
Makes little to no sense to me. The guy could go to PA school on the Army's dime and then end up at Regiment with those skills. Instead he wants to get smoked like a cheap cigar. I reckon he'll wisen up real fast.

And BTW, the whole Jiu-Jitsu thing will come in quite handy since Battalion (at least 2/75) was really big into it. Good workout.

I have to echo what Ranger TSD said. Your reasons are your own though. I have met enlisted personnel with Masters Degrees, but very rarely. At least, not coming in from the get go. Now, after serving a while, it is VERY common that us enlisted types, continue our edu-ma-cation and finish our degrees.

I also want to welcome you to the site. It makes me PROUD that people still have that burning desire to serve in this time of war. That's good shit right there.

None of us care about your Rainbow Belt. But, the fact that you brew your own beer... now, THAT is a topic of discussion.

Again, welcome to the site. This is the best place to learn the art of Rangerin' from REAL Rangers, both former and current.

Now, go do some PT.

A little fat tomato. Good luck, and if you run on roads with telephone poles on the side of the road; I can help you speed up.

Run your first mile in a dead out sprint.......max out or pass out. At the beginning of the second mile slow down to an airborne shuffle for the span of the first two telephone poles; then sprint flat out the next span. Repeat for the next two miles. Remember to streach out after really good.

and since it hasn't been brought up yet, we aren't "you guys". we aren't your pal or buddies. we are the "guys" who have been and led those whom you choose to be.

go re-read the rules on how things go around here. it's a start to how things will go in the Army.

you will have a 20 year old SGT and some 22 year old SSGs wearing your ass out in RIP. mentally and physically.

if you get to a PLT you'll have several 20 year old TLs and 22-25 year old SLs all up in your ass until you prove yourself worthy of taking care of their Rangers.

I don't think you are intentially being disrespectful, but you don't recognize how things work here, or in BN. start wrapping your head around that now if you want to be sucessful. no one will give a shit about your age, qualifications, or experience. you'll just be another cherry non-tabbed SPC medic. no more no less until you demonstrate otherwise. you might as well start now.

good luck and go PT.
