Post by Ezra »

Hello Everyone,

Im glad I found you guys and this resource. My name is Bill and Im 33 years old and enlisted about 2 weeks ago. I have a Masters Degree in Biomedical Science and graduate in May with my RN degree. I ship out in June for basic. My MOS is 68W - Medic with option 40.

I have joined this site to talk with real Rangers and find out the facts about the profession.

Goal during my 4 year enlistment: train like hell, become a Ranger, and save atleast one life.

I look forward to talking with you guys.

Other Stuff:

Welcome to the site Bill. Congratulations on your option 40. You have a BSN? That is very impressive. It looks like you will be very well quallified to be a Ranger medic assuming you pass the physical part of the training.

Make it happen.

I just reread that, you said you get BSN in May. That's cool 8)

I was an old guy when I went to RIP myself. It has it's own set of challenges but is very rewarding.

You're the second new stud that seems to think that might mean something to us in your qwest to make it to Bn.

DO PUSHUPS FIFTY "ELEVATED" ITS WHAT WE CALL A GOOD START.

And then post your efforts doing pushups, situps in 2 minutes and what time you get doing a five mile run. In addition to your height and weight. I'll leave it up to you as to when you respond.........however if I were you I'd come up with some answers quickly.

Bill, a man has only one opportunity to make a favorable initial impression. You are a go at this station. If you want to earn a place in the 75th Ranger Regiment, you came to the right place. I can't speak to the specifics of being a Ranger Medic, but I can assure you that others who can speak to it will be along to assist you. Right now I can only echo Ranger Bugsy's guidance: Run!!! Never, never quit.

Masters in Biomedical Science, RN and 33. I hope you finally find what you are looking for cause you seen like a bit of a wanderer. What the hell have you been dong with your life? (rhetorical, don't care, don't answer)

Good luck, I hope you are fit. Some 20 year old Farm boy will probably clean your clock in combatives, don't let it get you down. Oh, and I'd keep that Jui Jitsu thing to yourself, no one here gives a shit nor are we impressed. I'm sure some RIP instructor would like to hear about it though, make sure you brag about it if you get there.

Welcome and congrataltions for enlisting to become an Army Ranger. PT may well be the biggest challenge you will face. Give yourself an Army PT test to assess your condition, and dedicate time to get in the best shape of your life before you ship. Be sure to read the ROE PM I have sent you.

Welcome to the site. You only have until June, which might seem like a long time, but you need a lot of improvement on your PT and at 33 years old, you're not going to improve as fast as you usedtocould. You also might want to lay off the homemade beer. As for the Jui Jitsu, yeah, you should probably keep that on the down low. Congratulations on securing your contract, don't let it go to waste.

Huh.

Don't know much about joo-jitzu but apparently it doesn't do much for upper body strength.

I have no idea why after getting a RN license, on top of having a masters, you decide to enlist... but your reasons are your own. If you want to pursue a career in critical care/trauma/ER nursing, this is one way of doing it. You will definitely get a great foundation on patient examination and treatment in austere conditions. You will be very well trained in triage and treating multiple patients. It is a totally different animal than being an RN, as line medics don't do a lot of nursing type care. In fact, I'm surprised that the Army is letting you do this because they always have a shortage of nurses. You may find that as soon as they discover your RN someone in medical branch will say, "fuck that enlisted shit!" and make you an officer. If you really want to be a line medic in the Ranger Regiment, keep that shit on he down low. Either way, good luck!
