I'd like to thank you all for what has been a surprisingly warm welcome.
To Ranger Matador275 and Ranger Bugsy, thanks for the heads up concerning the questions, I ought to have been more thorough.
Ranger VAK, you're probably right concerning the balls issue. Although I don't really agree with what you're saying about my support of the military, that's fine, I understand I'm in no position to talk war with you so I won't bother rustling up any hornet's nests. Also, whatever I do in so far as joining up is concerned, it will most assuredly happen post-graduation.
Ranger msg_dman, I will certainly conceed you're right concerning the recruitment center, I mistook the renovation of the plaza it's in with its closing, but it's back up and running now.
To be entirely fair however, I was not mistaken concerning the status of the Yale ROTC:
"Davis said the lack of participants explain why there is no ROTC program at Yale. But transportation has been arranged to ship students from Yale and surrounding campuses to a program at the University of Connecticut."
From: http://www.yaledailynews.com/article.asp?AID=8493
Additionally:
"In 1969, Yale's Reserve Officer Training Corps program moved off campus in response to widespread anger about a war that was deeply divisive and, at least at Yale, deeply unpopular. "
http://www.yaledailynews.com/article.asp?AID=28076
Although you were absolutely right concerning the recruitment center, I hope the point of why I showed up at this site still comes across:
At Yale there simply isn't any meaningful military community or group of students interested in entering the military. This isn't to say everyone here are total pacifist liberals, I sincerely don't mean to sound pompus, but I know a bunch of guys here who'd love nothing more than to be ordering Rangers like yourselves around in twenty years. The scary part is that if history is any guide, that isn't an entirely unlikely scenario.
Be that as it may, almost none of these people with DoD dreams have any intention of joining the military, and the people that aren't carpet-bomb crazy certainly don't want to either. In about 10 seconds I could find a dozen guys who could give me a million reasons not to join the military, and they'd probably be pretty good reasons. But I actually do believe the things I wrote in my first post about the obligations citizens in this country have, both to one another and to the people of the world. And I am very seriously considering joining up. I do try to put some thought into life changing commitments however, so I figured I should try to talk to someone with a different perspective (somehow Army recruiters seem just a little too biased). On that note I'll end this long-winded diatribe and say that one way or another I do appreciate hearing all of your perspectives.

There is an opportunity available to you to become a lateral transfer into the MS3 year of ROTC, and to travel to another campus to attend the required classes, thus providing you with the ability to use the 3 years of college you already have to become an Army officer.
No you didnt come here prepared, and you led us to beleive you had no ROTC opportunities available to you when in fact you do. I would recommend talking to the Recruiting Operations Officer (ROO) of that ROTC program and find out what would be needed for you to enter the MS3 year. I believe you would only have to attend Camp at Ft Knox this next summer, and then NALC at Ft Lewis after your senior year. You would then pin you 2LT rank on and head to IOBC.
I want you to look into this, even if you are not sure about doing it, it is actually a pretty good opportunity for you. Don't tell me you can't find the ROO's number, because I could find it onine in about a minute.
Good luck. Come back here and post after your done. Remember the Army needs Chaplains too.
