Introduction- Luke

Post by Macbeth »

Hello. My name is Luke. I'm originally from Arizona, although I'm attending school right now at Yale University in New Haven, CT.

As you all might imagine, there is not much of a military presence at my university (I don't believe we even have an ROTC program), and the nearby recruitment centers in the city were recently shut down (to pave the way for a coffeeshop if I recall correctly). Needless to say, I've found it difficult to gather much useful information about the Army Rangers here, and my trolling through websites has left me mostly disappointed.

I am halfway through my third year of college and I am very unsure what I will do after I graduate (my Religious Studies major offers little help). I am considering the Army because it seems to me that no matter how you feel about the war, there are a lot of people right now in need of some sort of help, and only the US Army can really provide that help. I hope I don't sound like I want to go play GI Joe and save the world, because I don't, it just seems like we all have a responsibilty to do what we can to help those in need.
As far as why be a Ranger? I hear they're the best, and I figure if I'm gonna do it, I might as well do it right.

I apologize for the lengthy introduction. I was hoping someone might be able to answer a few questions for me:
How long would I be expected to serve if I were to miraculously succeed in becoming a Ranger? (I have no intent of going career)
Are there any benefits or disadvantages in signing up with a college degree?
What are the acceptance rates into/graduation rates of Ranger school?
And most importantly: What, if any, advice would you give to someone in my position?

I have this strange feeling this post has already gone on too long.
I thank you all for your time in reading this, and more importantly for your service to the American people.

Read the FAQ's before you respond to any posts. There you will amongst other things learn the answer to your questions. Imagine that someone already asked all of your questions and all of them have been answered. If you conduct a little bit of research, you will be that much smarter.

Listen to the DEP's while you are here. They will help you miss most of the airstrikes you are undoubtebly going to call in on yourself. VAK will be along without you even asking when the time is right. Trust me.

Welcome to ArmyRanger.com!

That was a good introduction. The DEPs will reach out to assist you. Heed their words and you may have an opportunity to improve your woefully inadequate education. Know you are in Yale, but why hammer you for that.

Now, please sit down and begin to orient yourself on the site. Read the FAQs, notes, and whatever other details are appropriate. Read a lot and post seldom. Remember the search button is your friend. I'm not.

Others, less generous than I, will be along shortly to extend their welcomes.

Luke if you had just stopped right there you would have been good. Your questions "have" been answered before, show us some of that costly edgamacation you've gotten and do some research.

What the fuck? That's all anyone's going to give the little abused Yaley?

Poor, poor Yaley. So, so abused and denied all the things that life should offer you. You whiney bitch.

While I would in almost any other circumstance applaud your desire to serve, you really don't know whether or not there's a military program on your campus as I would bet you have not so much as looked. Nor would I suspect you have offerred voice of support for the goals or mission of the military, as you are what is commonly known in the world as 'sheep'. You are nothing more than food...

I will offer you this, you had better take a deep breath, plug your nose and then attempt to blow really hard. I am hoping in doing this a couple of hundred times, your balls might drop a bit. Eventually dropping down to where you actually have those things where you can reach down and realize that they are yours. Only then will you have any hope at all of making it in the military. I can't even imagine you in any of the Ranger Battalions... I am doing good just to picture you in OSUT.

So, finish you education. DO NOT WASTE YOUR PARENTS HARD WORK AND EFFORT GETTING YOU THROUGH THAT SCHOOL. This will give you the time to work with the DEP's here who are rivaled by none, in getting you mind and body ready to go.

In the meantime, you can just fuck off as I think you are the most pathetic kind of man-the Suburban Walking Vagina.

So.... let me get this straight. You say Yale University is still in New Haven? I could have sworn they moved it!

ROTC and Military Educational Assistance Opportunities for Yale Students

Yale University attracts some of the world’s most talented students and exposes them to an extraordinary variety of resources and challenges. For more than three centuries, a Yale education has prepared students for a lifetime of leadership. The United States Army and Air Force Reserve Officer Training Corps (ROTC) and the Navy and Marine Corps educational assistance programs offer interested Yale College students financial support to pursue their regular Yale degrees while preparing for leadership in the military services.
