What happened? Which part... tell us and the other DEPS more. Could you have prepared differently, what would you do to NOT fail.

Be a respectful pest, don't go away until your grit and determination nets you the endstate you desire.

Shit happens and obstacles present themselves, we are measured not by our ability and natural talent but our ability to adapt, improvise, and overcome the areas in which we are weak turning that weakness into a strength.

Drive on but don't fuck yourself up trying to over PT.

You know how to find me if you need anything.

Hey man,

Don't let your head hang. I take it that you have been put on "World Wide", correct? If so, take a minute to read this. When I went through RIP we had a kid there who had already been in the Army for a year and a half. All the Cadre had a field day with him, since most of them remembered him from the "first" time he went to RIP. He was initially assigned to go to 1/75, ended up there and after a couple of months there he got a DUI. He immediately was RFS'd by his CoC, but given the option to return to Battalion in 6 months.. He went to Fort Bragg and the day he arrived, he started looking around and knew he wasn't going to be there very long. When he got there he started getting his shit together and didn't do any stupid shit. Basically from what I remember, he did a good job there and submitted a 4187 to go back to RIP. He went again and was this time assigned to 3/75 upon graduation. The last time I saw him was two years later and he was a Sgt and in charge of a Ranger Fireteam. He never gave up on wanting to be a Ranger and go to Ranger School etc. He did it and he did it with a kick ass attitude that inspired the shit out of me when I went through RIP.

IF you want to become a Ranger, you are going to have to really want it. You are going to have to go back to RIP and do it over again. We all know you can make it, but it is going to take determination.

Keep your head up and focus on your goal!

To the DEPS

When you go to Airborne after OSUT you will be surprised at how easy the PT is compared to Sand Hill. You get your first taste of freedom and you get too comfortable and start eating subway and partying too much. I dont know how Jareds fat ass lost all that weight by eating Subway but stick to the DFAC and work out. When I was in jump week I hurt my knee my pretty bad doing a PLF and was put on a profile thru 9/18 which means I was in med hold for almost 3 and half months. If this happens to you they will not let you PT or train so when they dont have you pulling duty you will have to get it done on your own. Because when they give you an RTD its straight to RIP wether your ready or not. I was scoring a 270 min when I got thru Airborne and ended up a PT failure so watchout because it will sneak up on you. Anyhow I have deciced I will inform my CoC at the 82nd when I arrive that I will do whatever takes to get back to RIP and that is my only goal. I will do whatever it takes and get in better shape than I ever was and I will be back if I have to bug people and fill out a hundred 4187's. Thanks for the encouraging words Matador and Gumble I will drive on, what doesnt kill me makes me stronger and I have learned from my mistakes and if it helps any other DEPS out there than it was worth it.

Sincerely
