1. Gotten an airborne/Ranger CONTRACT, instead of trusting that I could 'volunteer in basic'.

2. Re-enlisted in '88 for at least 4 more years.

It cost me: my military career, 1/2 my brain, and use of left hand, and left leg, and peripheral vision in my left eye!!

You should tell this story to all of the dumbass wannabees. If it isn't written down you probably won't get it.

Then who would do the post details? Hmmm?

Who would there be to do the gofer work? Hmmm?

Who would there be to harass, intimidate, and make fun of? Hmmm?

Be careful what you wish for.
When you're the only airborne in a shitty fucking leg unit, you're doing all that shit.

I would not have gotten out when I did. But then I would not have met my wife, and she makes it worth the loss.

When I reup'd for a 2 year stint I wish I would have went ahead and switched my MOS to medic so I might have stayed in . Getting fucked and sent to Korea when I was supposed to stay state side to finish my " 6 months college" that was in my contact ( btw i didn't get to finish I was shipped out before I finished it AND got charged for the fucking classes which helped screw my credit).

Then I might still be in.

Oh and I never would have dated that fuckign psycho that tried to stab me with a steak knife. Damn unstable women!

Would have listened to my brothers when they said there was a 100% ID check at the Madigan Gate. Honest Mr. "I wish could be a real cop instead of an leg MP" I only had two beers. As far as I know, I was the last dude to get a DUI and stay in the Regiment. I got off on a technicality! :D :D :D

SF guard

Post by GMHA375 »

I just read the thread and I heard a lot of guys talking about wishing they had continued in the military or were fighting since 9-11, and how it's hard to go back to the regiment. As you know it's not impossible to go back but hard and you ussually have to go back low rank.

But me and my buddies rejoined the SF guard and it's a good deal. I was already qaulified so it was easy, but the other guys have went to the course and are now in the war. We'll take some pretty old guys too. We've graduated a bunch of guys in there 40's

My unit is prabably 50%+ former Batt boys and 70% ranger tabbed.

If anyone wants more info just write.
