Is there any word on the possible change in 670-1 to allow those who particicpate in OEF-P to wear combat patches? Seems strange that combat pay is authorized, but not the patch.
Thanks, Rangers.

SITREP from AIT
I was one of the few non-11B DEPs on this site back in the summer, but I figure I'd return with an update...and some interesting news.
I'm in week 3 of AIT here at Ft. Gordon. Basic at Ft. Benning was pretty tough while going through it, but looking back you realize it wasn't that hard. The first 3 ...

LOL!
Yeah, Panama is a third-world country with all its "charm," but its my third-world country. When I said visit with family I meant everyone on my mom's side of the family, not as a tourist.
While my brother was born there and I in Houston, we both have Panamanian blood in our veins and spent a ...

I'm heading to Panama...any Rangers want souvenirs?
Tomorrow I leave for Panama for a couple weeks, a last chance to visit with family before I ship to Basic. We always bring back Panamanian crafts, molas, souvenirs, etc. for Army friends of my dad that were stationed there. Seems alot of his soldier buddies had a great time down there so they always ...

Ranger BeadleBug - in fact that is exactly what I did last week. As somewhat embarassing as it was, I signed up for private swimming lessons at the local Y. I was able to get discounted membership for being a college student, but the classes will run me $85. (Just hope I don't have to be in the pool ...

Importance of swimming ability?
How important is a soldier's swimming ability while in Regiment? I know there is the combat swim test in RIP, but is this a skill that is called upon often while in training and missions?
And, in case any Rangers know, are SF soldiers required to be expert swimmers?

I'm actually going a step further, Airborne Marine Leatherneck. I got a nice signing bonus and will be partnering up with my brother to buy some real estate. He's been at this for some time and the ROI has been higher (and more stable) than the stock market.
