I got this thing called StopZilla, according to it it's stopped 80 some popups in the last two days. Works pretty well if you don't mind payin for it.

If you use MSIE, you can download the Alexa toolbar for your browser and it gives you excellent pop-up control. www.alexa.com

Ranger IntelToad - I've been using Proxomitron for some time now. It is both an ad- and pop-up blocker.

One great feature is being able to bypass the blocking with a couple clicks. There are some sites where you want to be able to see certain things, or not have important pop-up messages blocked.

Ranger Spartan, be warned, Alexa is some notorious spyware.

I use the new pop-up blocker that comes with the latest version of MSN Messenger (6.2) for Windows XP, available here. It's quite good and free from MS with no spyware.

Ranger IntelToad,

I use Mozilla Firebird as my web browser and I never get pop ups. Also, I scan my harddrive with a free program called ad-aware wich searches for and deletes spyware and adware.

I like Google Toolbar. It also always you to search with google anytime, it stays right in your toolbar. And it has many other features. Very easy to use. Just go to www.google.com and search for it.

Alexa is not notorious as in evil. It just uses your surfing information to rank sites against each other is all, for the Alexa.com website. It does in fact have an effective ad-pop blocker and also has a google search built into it as well. I use it on my MSIE browser, but I usually use Mozilla as my primary browser. The Alexa toolbar does not work with Mozilla, otherwise I would use it on this one as well.

IT, StopZilla won for best popup blocker by c/net and is still regarded as the overall best.

Spy Sweeper is regarded as the overall best spyware removal tool and that's free although they offer a better one for 29 bucks

Thanks everyone. The really annoying ones are those that pop up and tell you spyware is on your pc- and that you need to buy their software to remove it. I don't know why that is legal, it's bullshit. My spyware software never finds it and removes it.

Ranger IntelToad, according to PC Magazine here is the best ad-ware/spy-ware removal program. http://www.download.com/Spybot-Search-D ... ag=lst-0-2

run checks on it daily. Cookies have ad-ware/spy-ware in them.

Tay Depp we can go back and forth on this all day however depending on which site you look at there are 3 which seem to be okay. SpyBot is only good if you "purchase" it however webroots "spy sweeper" offers a free utility that effectively gets rid of a vast majority of spyware without having to fork out some bread. Here are three sites (one of which I obtained from c/net) that reviewed the top spyware removal tools to date. We use spy sweeper at work which I believe is the overall best value (cause its free)! For those of you who don't know what the hell to do here are three links which review the top spyware removal tools on the market.
