RLTW

Post by alakso »

Greetings Rangers. My name is Alakso and I'm from the Penobscot Indian Nation in Maine. I'm a Marine who served from 1975-1981 in the 6th Marines, and as a reservist. My son is a Ranger recruit and is in OSUT now as I write this. May God bless the USA, the Rangers, and my brother Marines. RLTW and Semper-fi...alakso

Welcome aboard Jarhead and thanks for serving our nation.

Does the Penobscot Indian Nation do anything with young men who depart the tribe to instill the warrior spirit in them to insure success before they leave for the real world, be it The Army, College, or any other endeavor?

Greetings Ranger Spartan. My tribe works on instilling a warrior spirit in those who heed it's calling. We have a sacred run to Mt. Kahtadin every fall and that's 100 miles. We also teach survival skills at the tribal school. Things like starting fires, shelters, food, etc. We have had many great warriors in my tribe as we are the only tribe in the Northeast to not be conquered by the Mohawk Indian nation from upstate NY. We also do alot of hunting and shooting, trapping, etc. A member of my tribe was the first Native to play professional baseball and the Cleveland Indians are named after him. We've also had Olympic athletes, and tribal members who have served in the military since the Revolutionary war, Civil war, etc., to present. And of course some parents help instill the warrior spirit through their actions and beliefs in the way of the warrior. alakso
