From all the searching and reading I've done it seems that honesty is the best policy when it comes to filling out the SF86. But, when I was 17 I worked for my friends dads construction company during the summer. I worked pretty much everyday for 4 months and I was paid in cash weekly(total of maybe $2k). If I list this, and they see that I/he never paid social security or any form of tax(during this time period, in regards to me), will they go after him? I don't want to lie, but I don't want to screw him over.
If this seems like a stupid question I apologize, going to elevate my feet now.

Ranger Desert Sloth, I guess I am more concerned that some time later in life I may need a TS clearance. If that happens, when they discover I left out this part of my employment history, I believe that could also cause problems. But, I'm thinking that my best bet would be to take your advice, thank you Ranger Desert Sloth.

The thing about honesty is...It is not situational! Once you create an SF-86 the answers you put on it will FOLLOW you! If you answer a question a certain way you better be able to answer that same question the same way, until you are done answering it.

I would also suggest that you keep a copy for yourself and do the same with any clearance paper work you fill out in the future. The smallest discrepancy (however innocent) will land you in an investigator's office answering questions. And, this has nothing to do with my son....my own experience. As time goes on some dates and things will not be as fresh in the memory.Silverback wrote:The thing about honesty is...It is not situational!
