Rangers,
After reading a few mentor requests my hope is that this request has been drafted in a proper, respectful format.
I am 24 year old college grad DEP puke, with an unassigned Airborne Infantry contract. I leave for OSUT on 4/26/05 and I do not have an option 40 :( . I am in reasonable shape which is to say I can do 63 push-ups, 79 sit-ups, 15 chin-ups and ran the 2 mile yesterday in 13:04. I know I need to get better. I want to be able to score 100% plus across the board before I head out for OSUT and I am aware that this is an ambitious goal.
I am located just outside of Boston, MA. I have been working out with a former Marine Recon for the last week. The workouts have not been formal we just have been getting to the gym at the same time each morning. Marine Recon has been giving pointers on different things while working out. If a Ranger is not available to help me would any of you Rangers suggest I ask the former Marine Recon to help me?
My intent is to prepare myself as well as I can physically and mentally while learning as much as I can from a Ranger. I hope to be able to get an option 40. I have the utmost respect and admiration for Rangers. Thank all of you for allowing me onto your website.
Thank you for your time and consideration. I will start pushing the floor after I post this request.

Thank you
Ranger Bell,
Thank you for the response and encouragement. I bought a used ruck sack today. The Marine Recon said the next time I see him I better have rucked 5 miles with 50lbs on my back. I know what I am doing tomorrow.
I still have more work to do on my push-ups but I will get there.
Thank you for all of the great information on this site.
