Hello all!
My name is Matt and I am 18 years old. I would like to start off by thanking all the Rangers that made this site possible and all of the U.S servicemen and DEPS/civilians who contribute to these forums. And now a little bit about myself. I was sworn into the U.S. Army DEP on June 10th, 2004. I have an 11x option 40 on my contract. I work construction and I am a HS senior, where I also attend Army JROTC. One of my JROTC instuctors is/was (he is a retired LTC) Airborne and Ranger Tab qualified. Because of this, he has heavily influenced and motivated me to become the best solider I can be in the ARMY and to pursue my goal of becoming a Ranger. I enjoy anything outdoors and have a very athletic lifestyle. I have joined the site so I can learn as much as I can to prepare myself befor I leave for BMT/OSUT/ABN/RIP. Thank you all for contributing usefull information for us non-Rangers so that one day we might join your ranks.
Matt -OUT!

That's a quote from a real-life experience when I was driving back from a concert in S.F. It happened right on I-80 after Truckee when they were doing all the highway construction at the end of Summer 2003.BLK397 wrote:Thank you Ranger Spartan, I appreciate your quote on constuction workers. Lots of wierd things can happen on the job especially on those long days!
It happened right about where you pass that really massive new home that sits by itself, right across the Truckee River. The huge log one - you know which one I am talking about?
Luckily no one was injured - or arrested.

Welcome. :?
I see in you signature, you are using: "the effective range of an excuse is zero meters". I do not see where you are quoting the original speaker of this line you quote. I remember only recently that Ranger Bell use this line and this is not the first time he has to a question in recruitment process or anywhere else for that matter:

Please give credit to where credit is due. This is your first rule after the 'I won't ever quit'.quote by Ranger Bell wrote:Say it? I don't even understand it. Sounds like an excuse to me. And you know the maximum effective range of an excuse? Zero fucking meters.

Ranger Steadfast- I am sorry for this error. I was NOT trying to quote Ranger Bell in any way. I first heard this quote from SGM XXXX XXXXX several years ago and I did not attach his name for OPSEC reasons.
would it be more suitable if I put the quote as "the effective range of an excuse is zero meters"-Army SGM?
Ranger Spartan- I do know where that house is on I-80. I have been all over Nevada an California. I think that house sits right by the old landslide area? correct me if I'm wrong.
