Ranger Bell i meant it the way you just said above. I didnt elaborate though, it was a stupid mistake on my part. When i get there and if they wont give it to me i'll walk out, and return a diffrent day. My apologies for the misunderstanding on my part.Bell wrote:Hopefully my ass. Don't you guys listen?
DON'T SIGN ANYTHING UNLESS IT'S WHAT YOU WANT
Be polite but firm. If he doesn't offer you an Option 40, then thank him, get up and walk out. Tell the man you'll check back later.
Then keep checking back until they have one for ya.

Reporting back in.
Ive had a taste of what 'Hurry up and wait' means. MEPS was pretty fun lol.. anyways to the good part. I passed everything with 1's(picket fence?). Then it comes to my asvab.. wow these guys. It was faxed 2 days prior, the guy who recieved it lost it, so my recruiter faxed them another copy of my asvab scores i took in school in May 2003. I got a 54 on it from what i was told(it was passing in the areas 110+ GT). But they couldnt pull any of the records up or anything so i sat around for a good 4hrs going from command desk to the liasons office and back to the sitting area while they tried to figure everything out.
So now they just want me to retest on the asvab on monday morning, and then proceed to the MOS selection and swearing in etc. I get to leave sunday morning again and stay in a hotel all day, then retest in the morning and continue on from there.
So i'll give another update monday night.

When I went through MEPS I had only one thought of what I wanted to do, that was to become an Airborne Ranger. When i got through all of the tests and was to the point of being asked what i wanted to do I told them I only wanted to be a Ranger. The recruiter tried to talk me into a bunch of other jobs, saying there were not any openings for a Ranger contract at that point. I thanked him and told him I would think it over, knowing that i wouldnt settle for anythign less. The next day i walked into the MEPS station and the same recruiter told me that a Ranger slot had just opened up like magic!!!! Dont settle for anything other than what you want and make sure once you are headed down that track that you take advantage of the chance you will have to serve with the best!!!!

Well well, seems the Ranger's on this board were correct and you got what you wanted. That is the 1st step in being FIRM in your resolve to become a RANGER. Thank you for a job well done SFC hit_it, Ranger Bell etal.
P.S. Stop thinking so much, listen to the advice of these men.

hell, even Rangers need chemical guys.
at least you got what you wanted.
Are those the guys who do LSD and Shrooms, jump out of planes and shit? Thought that was the 82nd.

I'm not the way I am because I was a Ranger - I was a Ranger because of the way I am.

They handed it to me the first time. I noticed something on the sheets we sign when we first get to MEPS(check in) under my name where i signed it said 'Airborne Ranger'(something of the sort with Ranger in it) ... I hadnt even seen a counselor or anything yet, still had to redo my asvab and all from it being invalid because i was a sophomore. So maybe my recruiter gave them a heads up.Bell wrote:Finally! Somebody listened. Now we don't have to hear all the "but they didn't have it" and "they said if I'd sign now I could change it later" and ........
Congratulations Aeos. Was it hard to get or did they hand it to you the first time?

But yea, overall no problems obtaining the contract, I told them what i wanted, and i recieved it with a huge smile. Couldnt ask for more. Well except for less sitting around and waiting. It was fun, now to continue preparing for the real challenge 8 months away.
Thanks again for all the help everyone.
