Introduction: BlueEagle

Post by BlueEagle »

Hello Rangers and members,

BlueEagle here, I'm 21 years old, currently finishing up my degree in college. After which I plan to enlist in the Army. I've done tons of research and years of thinking (specifically in the military) into what I want to do and I have a general idea. I signed up on this forum to seek the advice of people with first hand experience who can provide insight and help me find the best possible route to pursue a career in the military.

If you have any questions about me please don't hesitate to ask. I'm thinking that it would be better if I post my questions on a different post and not on my introduction.

Thanks for having me here!

Welcome BlueEagli, If you truly want to earn a place in the 75th Ranger Regiment, you came to the right site. We at armyranger.com take a great deal of pride in the young men who pass through here on their life journey. Please tell us more about yourself. Where do you go to school? What is your Major? Why do you want to be a Ranger? Most of the questions you might have can be addressed by using the search feature, located on the top right of this page. Please read the FAQs, as well as select stickies and threads. Within the next 72 hours, please self-administer a PT test (to include pull-ups) and post your results on this thread. Never, never quit!

Welcome to the site BlueEagle. Wanting to be a Ranger is a hard but noble task. What made you chose Ranger Regiment over anything else, and have you talked with a recruiter at this point. Give everything you've got, ever time you give and never, ever quit! RLTW

Thank you for the warm welcomes RangerJd and Ranger Jim. I was typing actually a lengthy reply, until I was prompted by the site to re-enter my log-in which erased everything I've been typing for the past 2 hours

Anyway, I will condense what I need to say and address all questions without leaving vital details.

I am currently studying in Ateneo De Manila University in the Philippines as a junior, currently taking AB Development Studies (with a specialisation on Foreign Policy, Psychology and Development Management).

I initially wanted to go to the Navy to be a SEAL (I thought of this when I was a sophomore in high school), and applied to USNA. However because of my current status as a Permanent Resident and the difference in curriculum here in the Philippines (which is academic heavy, so less extracurricular activities) which I believe placed me at a disadvantage, because service academies look for a well rounded applicant. I did however get a nomination, through Congresswoman Titus, though it's to no end now, I still see it as a small victory in my part :)

One may ask why I am only a PR. To summarize, I was born in the Philippines (though I am Chinese and not Filipino, just want to put it out that I have no sympathies to Mainland China and heavily disagree with their foreign policy and actions of recent time. I am saying this because it was a question I was asked during my interview for a Service Academy Nomination, though I understand why they would ask) and received my PR status when I was 10-12. However, I am not able to move immediately because of family concerns. I have been going very frequently to the US whenever I can despite my busy academic schedule just to show I do not intend to abandon my residency. It's been an uphill battle but before I graduate I plan to enlist through the DEP, so that when I actually do graduate I can immediately go to BCT without wasting any more time.

I have been contemplating what is the best path to take to pursue a military career for years now since I was in my Sophomore year in high school (5 years now), that's why I am here. I have decided that the Army is something that is for me and if I were to pursue a military career, I would like to maximize it and be the absolute best I can be and I believe I can contribute in a high capacity, that is why I wish to join the Army Rangers. I wish to receive your advice from your first-hand experiences.

I do still have some questions, should I post them in a different thread? or will posting it here suffice?

Also does the PFT consist of Pushups (2 mins), Situps (2 mins), Pullups (2 mins), 2 mile run?

If there is anything you would want to know more about me please do not hesitate to ask, I will answer them to the best of my abilities.
