Introduction-Lucas(fs)
Rangers,
Hello and thank you for welcoming me to your forum. I'm 19 turning 20 in the next month and I have the burning desire to serve in the 75th Ranger Regiment. I am worried however, because I've had a somewhat colorful past. I haven't spoken to a recruiter yet because I'm waiting for the fiscal year to start (so I know slots will be open and also I have questions). Now considering I don't want to lie especially on the security clearance forms, I need advice. My parents were both heavily involved in the use and sales of crack cocaine when I was young and they have both served multiple years in prison. When my mother was initially sentenced I was sent to live with my aunt in MD. I was pretty upset and perhaps acting out a little but my aunt decided it would be a good idea to put me on depression meds(I was 12). During this time I ran away and was arrested then put on probation briefly. I stopped taking the meds a year after being prescribed and have been okay since. Yes I have experimented with pot but have no desire to continue using. I dropped out of highschool during my senior year but have since went back and got my diploma. I was arrested once more for underage consumption at the WVU campus where I worked for my uncle in his restaurant(the incident is something I regret deeply but cannot change). Should I be careful about disclosing all of this because I do NOT want to be denied enlistment or a clearance? I'm aware that if I disclose this at MEPS I will more than likely be denied enlistment. Should I give up on my dream of being a ranger? Will the clearance forms be given to me at MEPS? Any advice from you fine men is greatly appreciated.

Re: Introduction-Lucas(fs)
Ranger Jim,
Thank you for the welcoming. I will administer a pt test tomorrow morning and post my results. Physically I'm a very skinny guy but I have plenty of heart. I'm 5'10" and weigh 130lbs. I'm still a bit worried about how my past could affect my military career but will do whatever it takes to become a Ranger. I will post pft results first thing in the morning and I will never quit!!! Thanks,
Lucas

Re: Introduction-Lucas(fs)
Thanks Ranger Charlie and Ranger Jim my apologies for the stupidity. My pft results were:
Push-ups/63
Sit-ups/85
Pull-ups/12
2 mile run/13:31
I still have plenty of room for improvement and ill work on getting my scores up this month. I'm working on ruck marches as well. I will post a sitrep after I speak with a recruiter.

Re: Introduction-Lucas(fs)
Rangers,
I self-administered pt tests a few different times today and added a 5 mile run time. These are my max scores thus far:
Push-ups/71
Sit-ups/94
Pull-ups/13
5-mile run/36:48
Also after watching the news, its official. Syria is about to get the wrath of Obama.

You established a PT baseline to build on. Memorize the Ranger Creed and begin to live it. Never, never quit!
