What really burns my behind is that even in an "apology" these guys look for empathy with this standard line from the Stolen Valor Handbook;
"Well, I told the initial lie and then didn't know how to get out of it, so I built on the lie some more" (until he got caught, of course).
How to "get out of it"? Umm. I dunno- tell the truth after the first lie?
It may be me, but it seems just a wee bit disingenuous that once they are caught all of a sudden the apologies overflowing with gratitude and remorse flow out.

Well, got me. I thought that fucker had been in Vietnam. Many years ago HBO did a pretty good documentary called "Dear America: Letters home from Vietnam" and Dennehy was the primary narrator doing the commercials.
