A Quick Hello

Post by 31bSoldier »

I just wanted to say hello to all Rangers, Vets, family members, DEPs, and others here. I got turned to this site from a friend of mine who found it the other night, read a bit while at work, and figured I would say hello.

A little back story about myself:

I am an active duty 31b, fairly close to some of you I would imagine (I am in Ga). I have deployed twice in support of OIF, to Ramadi in 05-06 then to Rabia'a on the Syrian border from 07-08.

I have been in the Army for 6 years now, currently a Specialist, been promotable 2 times, lost it both times (once was a wrong time wrong place kind of thing. The other...I screwed myself big time, live and learn).

As an end note, I want to say that just from what I have read so far, I am amazed at what you men have turned this little community into it. Most Military forums that I find..well I will just say, it isn't up to par.

Thank you for the welcome Ranger Steadfast.
I am certainly having a good holiday. Even if I don't get the holidays off, my wife just gave birth to our daughter, so the holidays will still be awesome.

And thank you for your service also.

Congrats Soldier-Daddy! :D

I did AIT there a few hundred years ago in 1974. I trust Gordon has changed a little.

It is now the Signal Center, and we have a bunch of Signal AIT trainees here...as a 31B I deal with them every time I work.
I have only been in for 6 years..and even I cry at what the regular Army has become. So yes..I would imagine that Gordon has changed just a bit since '74

(by my count, that is only 150 years ago, not the few hundred that you claim...I think you are a little younger than you claim Ranger K.Ingraham!)

O5B morse radio operator when I left, then 31V while in battalion. IMC has probably gone the way of the dodo bird. I might've been relevant again had the "Y2K" scare come off. Oh well. This computer thingie fad will pass too.
