Got home from MEPS today.

Post by SLEDGE HAMMER »

Got home from MEPS this afternoon, but unfortunatly returned home empty handed. I got all 1's on the physical, and took the Airborne physical and passed that as well. When I went to the "Job Liaison," they told me that there were no RIP slots scheduled to take place during next summer, and therefore I could not obtain the Option 40. They told me I could just enlist as Infantry now, and that they would allow me to renegotiate my contract later to include a Option 40. I told them "No thanks, and that I would wait until classes are scheduled and I would recieve a Option 40 in my contract." Then they proceded to tell me that Infantry slots go quick, and they can't guarentee that they will have them much longer. I think I did the right thing. Do any Ranger's or SFC hit_it know when classes would be scheduled and when Option 40's would be available?

No RIP next summer??????WTF??????

Impossible I would say upon first glance, there is still going to be a Regiment, and it is still going to need people.

RIP isn't like Ranger School, you can't just shut it off.

I say that they are blowing smoke up your ass. Maybe though, you misunderstood something that they told you?

Did they just say that there weren't any option 40's right now, or did they actually say that RIP was shutting ..............nevermind.

My mind just caught up with my fingers......how in the hell does a fucking recruiter know the future plans of the 75th Ranger Regiment?

He doesn't. They don't go out of their way to talk to him. If however, he got some kind of a memo then every recruiter would've gotten one. We'll wait till some active studs, or recruiters get on here to straighten this shit out.

Well to clarify a little more for you Ranger Dublo, I want to leave for basic next summer. Therefore I wouldn't attend RIP until next winter. And one of the Army Job Liaisons said they don't schedule RIP classes that far in advance and that I would have to wait until they do. The Job Liaison(not my recruiter) also said he had called his 1st Sgt and that they were doing everything they could to try and get me a Option 40 this early but it wasn't going to happen.

I also would have a hard time believing that infantry spots are going quickly.

Out of 20-30 people I met at MEPS today, I was the only one that wanted a Infantry MOS or anything remotely close to the "frontlines." So I had a hard time believing they were going quickly as well Paratrooper smokn38.

I knew that couldn't be right.

Well then, I don't know what the fuck to tell you. Don't sign anything, until they do give you an Option 40. Spend the next year busting your ass doing PT and don't worry about all of the DEP shit.

Yer doing good kid. Don't sign anything that doesn't have an Option 40 with it. Keep checking with them. Get a contact number and bother them every couple of days. You'll get it eventually.

If you enlist without that Option 40, you won't see RIP for 2 to 4 years. When you re-up. Hang tough. You're doing exactly what we keep telling everyone. Don't sign anything unless it's exactly what you want.

Wait for what you want. Don't make the same mistake as me. You will fuck yourself.

when I went to MEPS a week ago, they barely had any infantry spots open, and 0 airborne spots. The fact I got my 11x contract was because of my scores.

Latch03, I got a 90 on the ASVAB. I don't remeber the break down, but if need be, I can get it.
