Actually, very believable. Nothing shocks me anymore. I guess I have to claim numbness from the shoulders up when it comes to the stupid shit that goes on all the time.Infantry44 wrote:I've posted this on a similar board, but either way it hasn't made it's way here yet.

Public Middle School Field Trip to Mosque
They should have never gone to a "house of worship" in the first place. However, I think the superintendent saying "The students shouldn't have participated" is bullshit. It's his way of passing the buck for his fuck up.
If you take a group of students to a catholic church and the catholic students genuflect (sp?) at the alter is that wrong of the students?
The purpose of this field trip was a misguided attempt to bring "understanding" between mainstream American children and Islam. Unfortunately the only understanding Islam wants is the submission to Islam. It's a lost cause.

What's to understand about Islam? Their philosophy is pretty simple and clear, either you get with the program or you die.

If this principal had taken that same school trip to a Catholic church, and allowed the students to go into the confessional, he would be driven out with pitchforks.

Re: Public Middle School Field Trip to Mosque
Outrage.
Separation of church and state is the law. Islam doesn’t have this law and therefore a strong conflict of interest exists. The fact that church runs state in Islam and that there is no such thing as democracy in Islam as the Imam runs everything I guess hasn’t dawned on folks in the U.S. especially that school.
It’s even more ludicrous thinking that Iraq will have a real democracy. Egypt even though they vote the “power in charge” can’t do much if the Imam objects.
Islam is in direct conflict with the Constitution and the Bill of Rights.

Re: Public Middle School Field Trip to Mosque
When I was in high school we went to a Synagogue on a field trip but I don't recall any praying being done. I am not really worried about this it was a bunch of Jr high school kids and they aren't known to make the best life decisions. I am sure that these kids kneeling and bowing aren't converted yet. SInce they don't drive unless the parents allow Haji to come and pick them up to see Allah they most likley won't be back

I'll preface my response by saying that I am truly a racist....or whatever the term would be for someone who doesn't like Muslims....I am guilty of stereotyping them all. I dislike them, and I will never fully trust them. Yes, I am narrow-minded in that regard. I haven't worked with them, don't know any personally, and only know that friends of mine have died at their hands.
I don't really have a problem with students learning about different cultures, their beliefs, and their way of life. I don't really even see a problem with them learning about their religious beliefs on field trips. However, I know that I don't see things like the majority, and I also know that anytime religion or politics are thrown into the situation, the shit's gonna hit the fan. The school needed to go the extra mile, cover their ass, and make damned sure every parent had a sound understanding of exactly what was going to happen, or what could happen.
I also think there isn't enough information in the article....like whether or not the boys were Muslims...or whether any of the kids prayed at the synagogue (which they visited on the same trip), as well.
Furthermore, although they are too young to make a solid decision on their own, the kids all apparently prayed voluntarily. If my kid had been one, I would sit him down, explain to him what little I know of that religion, maybe even show him one of the decapitation videos, and let him come to his own conclusion. I wouldn't even consider suing the school district.
But, like I said.....I see things a little differently than most.

Home school...
I would have taken my kids to disney that day.
Not because I fear muslim indoctrination....but because they ( as Christians ) weren't allowed to pray in public school...but the mussies get time off during class...and the whole class has to stop....while they pray....WTFF over?
