Introduction

Post by Old IG »

Howdy, here's my introduction.

First, a little name dropping! I know RGRPUCK and RGROKELLEY and consider them good friends. I'll leave it to them as to whether they admit knowing me or not! I have known both of these men for about 20 years. After knowing PUCK all that time, I finally had the honor of serving with him not too long ago, and it was my fortune that it was during the first six months of my tour in OEF.

I started off as an enlisted MP in the Army Reserves and then discovered ROTC in college. Following college, I came straight onto active duty as a 2LT. Ive been on active duty now for 22 1/2 years. I'm a Loggy, currently doing time as a Branch Immaterial Staff Puke. But this is what the Army needs of me for now so that is that! As you may have guessed from my user name, I have been an IG as well. I am not a Ranger. I am a Basic Parachutisit and was on jump status for just shy of two years when I was a Platoon Leader.

My late Father-in-Law, COL Frederick Byrd Bowling, was a Ranger. He was a USMA Graduate. He went through Ranger School in 1954 I believe. I don't know his class number, but I will try to find out in case some of y'all may have known him. He was an Advisor to an ARVN Ranger Battalion and wore the ARVN Ranger Badge on his uniform. I believe the AVATAR that "JIM" uses is the ARVN Ranger Badge.

I reckon that's enough for an intro. Thanks!

Welcome. One of my last assignments was as a division IG. Two of the biggest lies in the Army: "We're the IG team and we're here to help you." "We're glad to have you here."

He was in MAC-V, 1966 -67. Don't know what battalion he was with.

Thanks for all the welcome comments folks! I take it that you knew COL Bowling "Jim"? Yes, MAC-V in 66-67 sounds right. We have a few pictures of him from then. Did you ever serve with him?

My son, who is an 11B, 18 months in now and no Articles-15, is now stationed at Ft. Bliss. He was a Manchu, 2-9 Infantry in Korea for his first tour. He seems to have developed a pinchant for Juicy Girls! Go figure eh!

Never served with him. Got the data from the Register of Graduates. Would certainly appreciate copies of any photos you might have. We have an extensive network of former Ranger Advisors and we are affiliated with the 75th Ranger Regimet Association.
