No disrespect was inferred or intended...I apologize if i came accross that way.
------------------------------------------------------------------------------
I am not a Ranger. My name is Gilbert "Frenchie" Manasselian. I was an 11B in Vietnam in 1968 and served with Co C 4/31 196th LIB Americal Div. from 02-68 to 02-69. I currently am the "owner" of a google group for our Company. We currently are a smaller group of 57 members and members are accepted by invitation only to avoid hackers etc.
We have the Map of Hiep Duc online and other maps showing LZs in that part of the country as well as over 250 online pictures.

The brotherhood between us is most important to our unit. It is also a central place to stay in touch. our membership includes our Battalion COmmander to average Joe's like me...I spent only 8 months in the bush then i was reassigned to LZ Baldy in a S4 job. I was asked by our Bn Commander (LTG Sam Wetzel) to help him locate one of his men who was in charge of his Recon Unit on LZ West. This happened in July 1968 when John Garrett took over the duties and re organized the Recon unit. John Garrett was a Ranger and my search led my to this web site. I saw right away i could not post a thing without becoming a member which led me to be a member for that reason.

Oh about the Frenchie thing....I came to the United States as a teenager in 1960 with the family, became a citizen in 1968 and was drafted before that event and left for basic in AUgust 1967. They called me Frenchie (amongst less pleasant names in basic) because i had a much stronger accent in my early years in the US. I am currently retired from the IRS after 34 yrs of service.

IF there are any questions, (anyone) feel free to ask. I will have an answer.
Thank you for allowing me to be on this great site.

I have sent you contact info for the G-75 Unit Director of the 75th Ranger Regiment Association. G Company was in support of the Americal Division. From the sound of your post, it is possible that the man you are looking for was not in G Company, but in a battalion Recon Platoon. If so, we won't be able to help you.

I knew Id get some attention when i mentioned my former employer.
I am "assuming" that if John Garrett was a member of the association then he would be in the roster maintained by the ranger community.
I have written several emails and i feel positive about this endeavor.
THanks men

Thank you Ranger Ron....not to change the topic I dont believe i met any Rangers over there...HOWEVER, one of my squad members transferred to the LRRPs (i note the LRRP under your Log on name) with the Americal Division in the summer of 68...his name is Rick Lett. We have reconnected in the last few years. Unfortunately Rick has been very sick due to Agent Orange exposure.
I was merely a draftee so i dont know all the lingo ...IE: FOG and incidentally i tried that SUA PONTE website and I cant find it any more. I found that website when i was looking for Rick Lett.
I hope my quest for John Garrett will be successful and i feel strongly that we have a pretty good shot at it...i just wished LTG Wetzel knew where this man was from ..but i dont think it is gonna happen that way since Sam has met hundreds of men over the years.

Thank you for the warm welcome......since we have moved to the right area i can ask another question...CA 1968...any of you men used to hang out at the COmbat Center in Chu Lai or LZ West, LZ Ross, LS Sooner, LZ Oconnor, LZ Mellon, LZ Polar Bear? Hiep Duc?...the world Famous Chu Lai Hilton? oh one more, Camp Horn in Da Nang?

I think that covers most of the area ive been to.
