Introduction

Post by MedTech309 »

Invictus sent me here to introduce myself, so here I am. Here's who I am:

I am an ER and clinic nurse as well as an EMT-B. I used to be a consulting scientist, but, I was doing that for all the wrong reasons.

I have no prior service. Because I was raised around military people, some people think I was in the military. There are those who believe, despite what I tell them, that I was. It's a sad comment on our society really. If you say "yes sir", "no sir", "thank you" and "please" people think that only comes from military training. Take it one step further by being loyal and putting your butt on the line for people you believe in and they think you must have been an elite soldier on top of it. People...

That's why I am here. I guess it is rare for people outside of the military to still believe in God, country, honor and duty. I came to the Ranger site, specifically, as I am an accidental history buff. I grew up running the mountains where Roger's Rangers showed the world what a small unit of determined soldiers could do. I figured, rather than some generic Army or Navy site, I have more in common with Rangers than other service men (although my brother was 26-years AF).

I am also here to read and listen to what the medics here have to say about treating battle-related trauma. Aside from not believing in common courtesy or anything higher than self, the people in this country seem to believe 9-11 was a fluke. Idiots.

I was in NYC on 9-11. I can't go back to sleep. One thing I know about combat is, outside of total nuclear war, your enemy never strikes once and declares victory. We are going to see it again, and I will NOT be part of the problem when it does. I hope by talking to some of the medics and docs on this site I can figure out how, as one "civilian medical operator", I can work with the military to save lives the next time. It appalls me that to this day that major metropolitan governments have not staged joint exercises with the military. Sure they have "plans" but no plan ever survives the first hour of a crisis.

Besides the above, I hope to get some information on long range shooting, and field craft from the rangers here. You guys know a lot about these things and I'd like to hear some ideas. I have been hunting and fishing since I was a boy. Learned a lot, but there's always more to learn.

Alright. I figure I should stop here before my message is deemed 'broken and stupid'. I will answer any question about myself openly and honestly. If there's something I should have said but haven't, ask me about it.

Thanks

welcome here. I had the, um, pleasure, to run around your neck of the woods, and Rogers' stomping ground for awhile. it's pretty for the three weeks of summer they get there. wasn't a fan of the winters though.

Sir and Ma'am up there... yep, don't happen much.
