SitRep

Post by KC28 »

Good afternoon Rangers,

I just got back from my first tour in Iraq this last week. I checked back in with the recruiting station and got my DD form 368 signed and ready to go. The recruiter and myself have looked over the jobs offered to prior service and the only thing they want to give me is Truck Driver and Cook. He also said because Im a cop it would be easy to go MP. Last time I posted we all discussed trying to get an 11B contract and getting into RIP that way, but they wont even offer me that. I tried talking to a different recruiter and the MEPs station about what I want and if they would be able to give me that chance and its all the same. Im obviously not going to give up, but I cant settle for something that is farther from what I want than what I already have. any reccomendations would be apreciated. Thank you all for your time.

Dude, Airborne Infantry if you can't get an Option 40.

They are FOS if they can CALL THE ROC and have that job loaded for you.

Tell them thanks but you want what you want. I do know that the Option 40 is tough once you've been activated and have active duty time, but you should at least be able to get Airborne Infantry.

SFC Hit_It,

I did as you said and told the recruiter that I want at least Airborne Infantry and I wont accept nothing less. He told me there is no chance for that and my only chance of going blue to green is to take what they offer me. I thanked him and went to a different recruiter today and he echoed what the first one said. I think if I wait a few weeks maybe something will change or come open. thank you for your time.

Just out of curiosity, any particular reason why you don't want to stay in branch and go for one of the AFSOC jobs? (Para-rescue, CCT, etc.) I know they are always hurting for PJ's. You would still be able to go to Ranger school, and those cats are some of the best of the best at what they do.

Ranger vxhybrid,

I apreciate the heads up about prior service. today my Commander signed my DD form 368 and your right Im not being offered anything, except Truck driver.

Ranger Sleepy Doc,

when I came in the AF I tried to go in as CCT and up until ship date I had that chance. They said my depth perception wasnt good enough for it. I tried again to go CCT and they wont take my depth perception again. AFPC told me I would have to wait for my DOS to try again. As far as PJ's go they spend too much time in the water. I dont have a big problem with water, I just prefer land. I've also tried to go TACP and was told my cross- training window was pushed back ( even though I didnt know they could do that). I dont want to portray the wrong image about the AF or AF special tactics, I have all the respect in the world for those guys, I just want to go a different route and being a Ranger has always been something I wanted to do. thanks for your time.
