Playstation 3

Post by Invictus »

Who else has one of these? I'm fixing to pick one up this weekend and besides seeing how many on here have one, trying to figure out if it's better than the 360.

Our family was huge on Playstation (1, 2), but we decided to go with the XBOX360 instead of PS3. Other than paying over $500 for it (we got the "Ultimate" version), the games have been awesome in HD and in 5.1 surround. I do wish it would have included BluRay though.

Ranger Invictus,

PS3 has better graphics, and loads a little faster. It also has free online play (Once you buy the routing attachment to let it connect to the internet last I heard)

Xbox360 you have to pay for the online play, graphics aren't quite as good (And by not quite as good, it isn't that big of a margin), but it has better games, and more of a variety of games. Only other thing I can think of is that the 360's controller fits better in your hand, it's more comfortable.

Ultimately the decision is.. Is it really worth another $150.00 for a nicer picture?

Go with the PS3. It's the cheapest blu-ray player you can get. Blu-ray is the shit. Online play is free with the PS3. No attachment needed. Make sure you get an HDMI cable to connect the PS3 to your HD TV with. Makes the world of difference.

Good feedback, thanks.
Wal Mart is having a special starting at 8:00 AM saturday for the 80GB PS 3, going for $400 and they give you a $100 gift card. I found these used on Craig's List for $350 - $450, so I figured it wasn't a bad deal.

They seem to have more sports games, so that was the deciding factor.

My Ranger son has had every video game unit except a PS3. He likes the PS3, but recommends Xbox360 to all, I don't know why, and he's not available right now for me to ask. He did purchase a PSP right after OSUT though... and it's really cool for music, video games and movies.

Xbox 360. More games. Make sure to get the "if the red light of doom comes on" warranty though. Also, more Rangers on the 360 (I'd bet)

If it's primarily for the blue ray disc then the PS3.

If it's for the kids, Wii

I have both the PS3 and the XBox360. They are both really good systems. I prefer the shoot-em-up games like Halo, Army of Two, Call of Duty on the Xbox and Resistance, Fall of Man on the PS3. Almost all of the major games are multi platform (except for the brand specific Halo-Xbox and Resistance-PS3 types obviously) so either would do. I do tend to watch movies on the Xbox more but I also try to find Blue-Ray movies every chance I can. The quality is very nice and as far as I am concerned very much worth it. We purchase Blue-Ray movies when we find good ones that I can stand to watch more than once.
