Voting is a privilege

Post by clk54 »

Rangers and Veterans;

Just wanted to say what a privilege is is to vote in a free country. Thank you for your service and for all you have done and continue to do to keep me free.

I just returned from the polls. This is the first time that I've voted at a polling station - it's always been absentee ballot done long before election day.

Quite interesting to experience.

This was my first in person vote also...I was kind of confused, but it worked out.

I went to vote at the local High School. I had on a Ranger T-shirt and a Gortex BDU jacket (its raining here). Outside the "rope line" are the various candidate supporters trying to get the last push to get you to vote for them. I ignore them, but the Democrats saw the "Ranger" and they didn't even approach. The Republicans saw the "Ranger" and lit up. One said "Rangers Lead the Way".

I guess they figured which way I would vote.

Voting is the greatest privilege of citizenship in this great nation. Bearing arms in its defence is the gravest responsibility.

Voting is not a privilage, it is a birth right. Same with freedom of religion and right to bear arms.

Service was a trusted privilage and a personal honor.

Since it can be removed...Voting would be better defined as a privilege.

priv·i·lege [priv-uh-lij, priv-lij] noun, verb, -leged, -leg·ing.
–noun
any of the rights common to all citizens under a modern constitutional government: We enjoy the privileges of a free people.

I think we should start doing the "Ink Finger Shuffle"...at least we wouldn't have to worry about anyone voting twice!!!!

I voted at lunch and saw a very good turn out. Hopefully all of the ancient looking citizens dragging in on canes, crutches, and wheel chairs were there to vote for McCain. One local church is having an all day prayer secession for McCain, because they feel that if Obama wins the world will end.....seriously.

I just got back from voting and they didn't even ask for my I.D. to validate me. Just a quick look at my voter card, which I signed in front of them, and then had me sign something else to get my ballot. My signature was totally different than the one they had on the ballot.

I guess it's because I'm in the SW suburbs of Chicago.

Black panthers were outside a voting place in Philly carrying nightsticks. The Cops removed them. What the hell is America coming to when stuff like this happens?? Im glad I live in the country because I have a feeling tonight will look like Baghdad on a Thursday night.

"Black Panthers" Intimidate Voters in Philadelphia

Things got a little tense in Pennsylvania when two men dressed as Black Panthers stationed themselves outside a Philadelphia polling place. One of the so-called Black Panthers was brandishing a nightstick.

According to one bystander, a Republican poll observer, interviewed by Fox News, the "Black Panthers" made their intentions very clear:

"We got a phone call that there was intimidation going on. I walked up to the door, two gentlemen in Black Panther garb, one brandishing a nightstick, standing in front of the door. They closed ranks as I walked up. I am a veteran; that does not scare me. I went inside and found poll-watchers, they said they had been here for an hour — I went inside and found poll-watchers, they said that they had said not to let people outside because black people are going to win no matter what. At that point, I spoke to him, we would not get into a fistfight, I said, and I called the police."

The police arrived and escorted the "Black Panther" with the nightstick off the premises.
