The new guy...

Post by Eyez79 »

Hello guys. On here to soak up as much knowledge as possible about anything dealing with Rangers... I am prior service Navy, dont kick me in the balls too bad, for 6yrs (Mar2002-Mar2008) and went Blue to Green this past Mar2008 and came into the Army as a FO. I am stationed with 3ID now. I am going to PRC this coming Feb2009 and Ranger School this coming Mar2009. As soon as this "black out" phase with my unit stops I plan on going to RIP sometime late 2009. Any info you guys can give me I would greatly appreciate it! I was with a non-deployable training unit from '02-'04, a NC-VBSS (NonComplient-Visit-Board-Search-Seizure) Team attached to a ship from '04-'06 and finally 2MEF (yep a damn Marine unit) from '06-till I switched to the Army.

Welcome Squid.

Thanks for your risky service (NC-VBSS) to our country.

What was the biggest wave heights you endured aboard ship?

On the ship itself we hit 20ft swells around Singapore, I didnt move from my rack the ENTIRE time except for the crash of the waves the tossed me up a few inches off the rack! ...does that qual me for Airborne (jk?) Within the NC-VBSS unit nothing more than maybe 6-7ft, I am guessing, first day in the gulf it was raining like sin....hammered my ass hard!

Being a former Seaman, coming onto a Ranger board, The bolded part could be really funny for someone to ask you some questions.

I won't, just wanted to point it out.

A better statement would be "think Ranger before you type".

Welcome and good luck. You seem to have it all mapped out. Just have to execute now.

Never mind the comment about 1st Batt-- the 2/75 guys know all about that by being up there in Seattle and all....

I am actually hoping to get 1st Batt...I know a few FISTers up there already. 2nd Batt wouldnt be too bad either...did a port visit in Seattle once while in the Navy, met a woman who said it was her duty (I will let you finish that sentence.) Hell, really I dont care which Batt I go to...I will be a Ranger and that is good damn enough for me! I am sure all 3 do some fun shit and plus as a FO I get to blow stuff up no matter where I am at!
