It's up to 3,000 pizzas as of this morning. He's been on the radio, and there has been a follow up in the local paper. All of this just since yesterday morning. Mr. Evans expressed that there are a lot of people in this country waiting to show their support for the troops, they just don't know how.
There's nothing like Chicago Pizza, and I believe being able to deliver something of home to our troops resonated with a lot of us, myself included. Attached is an excerpt from an email Mr. Evans sent out yesterday morning:
Hi Everybody!
Since the article in The Daily Herald we have received tremendous support. We want to thank each and everyone of you who want to show support to our men and women serving in the Middle East. When we first came up with the idea we had our goal of 300 pizzas. That goal has been met in a short time and we will be able to send even more. We received an email from General Petraeus this morning and he is planning a party with 800 soldiers for the Fourth of July. We received an email from CSM Marvin Hill who is working with General Petraeus which said "HOOAH". I think that sums it up.Our deadline for ordering the pizzas is June 28. They will be shipped July 2.
We are copyig all emails and are going to send a letter along with the pizzas including the names of the donators. Seeing all of the people who are keeping our soldiers in their thoughts and prayers will mean a lot to them.
