MERRITT ISLAND, Fla. -- Thieves targeted a widow when she was most vulnerable, just days after her husband passed away. They stole a pair of flags flying at half staff to honor the U.S. Marine Corps veteran.
"This was a heart-wrenching type of thing," she said. "Why pick on someone? They had no business doing that."
The flag pole at Mary White’s Merritt Island home is bare with only the ropes remaining. Until Thursday evening, an American Flag and the flag of the United States Marine Corps flew at the home.
Mary gave the Marine flag to her husband last Christmas. He put spotlights on it so the colorful display could fly full time.

In my opinion, that warrants the death penalty. They obviously have nothing to contribute to society.
