But on a sad note they are reporting over 100,000 lives lost. More to come from the long term effects.

Ok it suck for the people but, my assertion and this goes for north korea also.
Why the fuck would we send aid and keep propping these two bit dictators up. I feel change will only come when the people of the country have had enough and will fight for it. As with the food crisis in other parts of the world right now. If there is a chance you can scrape buy and feed your kids, folks are docile and worried about surviving, when you kid is starving and there is no hope, killing for a possible change for the better is all you got.
So send em some guns and a copy of the constitution as a guide and tell them call when thy got some form representative government.

Well, in North Korea, those people are so thoroughly indoctrinated that they seriously don't know what's what. I remember reading an essay that a doctor posted, where he managed to smuggle in a camera and a diary. He was telling stories about how the bulk of the people he came across just had no concept of anything else. They didn't know anything about other governments, other countries, other peoples. Hell, they didn't even know about the Space Race; the idea of putting people in orbit or on the moon was totally alien to them.Horned Toad wrote:Ok it suck for the people but, my assertion and this goes for north korea also.

The people of Burma, on the other hand, are just waiting for someone to give them a way out. It'd be pretty awesome if the international community just said, "Look, bitches, we're going to feed your people. Get out of our way, or we're going to gun you the fuck down." I don't know if anyone has the stones to do that, though. Right now is prime time to overthrow the military dictatorship.

It's said that 40% of the dead are children. Not fully confirmed but makes sense.
If the dictatorship will not allow help then the people will die and at one point they WILL say enough is enough. Then another civil war in SE Asia.
Magic man that's next door to you what say you?

That is a big gripe of mine, I have heard that also. So north korea starves their people, then when it desperate he waves his tin sword around and we give them some grain. Do you think lil kim tells everyone that the US and the rest of the world just kept his folks from starving. I doubt it. They just know the glorious leader managed to get them a bit of grain.EvilCouch wrote:Well, in North Korea, those people are so thoroughly indoctrinated that they seriously don't know what's what. That's it, or at least info about it and a few predictions. Here's the company that owns it now. http://urbansurvival.com/simplebots.htm You have to pay to see its predictions, so I've never seen any of the current predictions. The web bot project was talked about on some apocalypse documentary on the History channel or one of those channels. It stated that a major disaster or something like that would happen in 2008.IDon'tCare wrote:It should be this.Silverback wrote:What's a "web-bot" and what are you talking about...ANGRYCivilian wrote:Anyone think this might be the web-bot prediction for 2008?

But at what point do we (as a Nation) get it paid forward to us? We've been propping up the Middle East for generations now and what do we have to show for it? I say that until there is some kind of Pay-off we shouldn't support anyone!PocketKings wrote:I think we should send in Blackwater to feed the people. I felt the same about Dharfor. And Rwanda.

Well spoken. In the end it's $$ and the oil is running out..... There is a reason to protect the interests regarding oil/natural gas and Uranium and we should not pull back, but stop supporting financially the non interest countries. This I could live with. After all tax payers in all modern countries should stop paying for the rest. The issue must be for the rest to support them selves. We are in a huge economic melt down here. Oil is at $124 a barrel and going up at a steady pace.Silverback wrote:But at what point do we (as a Nation) get it paid forward to us? Hell over here we pay 30% more than the U.K., France or Germany at the supermarket but our salary is 40% LESS!
