Introduction.
Hello, Rangers!
My name is J. and i'm currently enlisted in the DEP program. I am scheduled to report to MEPS for transportation to my BCT site on 20070426 and scheduled to begin BCT on 20070504. I enlisted as a 37F (Psychological Operations Specialist) in the reserve but the way it seems now I will be transferring to AD after AIT and go on to BAC and SOLT.
My physical profile is a "picket fence" as my Grandfather calls it but I am not in a physical shape good enough to be worthy of Ranger training (60 situps, 53 pushups and a 16:00 flat 2-mile run) , but it is my aspiration to someday be able to attend RIP and Ranger school.
I found this site while learning about the different types of specialty schools the Army has to offer. I have the utmost respect for all Rangers and will hopefully use this site to add to my knowledge and hopefully future Ranger training.

Welcome to the site and thank you for signing up as a DEP to serve our great country. Good luck in your future military career. It will be difficult (if not impossible) to secure an option 40 on this tour. If you manage Airborne school, it may be possible to volunteer for RIP from there.
Keep working on your PT scores and Ranger school may well be in your future as well.

On this enlistement. If indeed 37F's are needed in the Ranger Regiment at all, (I do not know all the MOS's needed, look it up here or online) it may be possible to get option 40 as a re-enlistment option to serve in a Ranger Battallion if you extend/re-enlist.Scruffy37F wrote:Ranger RTO,
by "on this tour" do you mean during my time as a 37F? I'm confused.
With your signed contract, chances are (very) slim to none to you at this point getting RIP from any other place than Airborne school. However, Ranger school may be an option later.
p.s. Rangers LOVE to run. For a Ranger in Battallion, a 14 minute 2 mile time is considered slow.

No, sadly, the 16:00 is my 2 mile run time. There is not really an excuse for it, I just dislike running.
Huh........you dislike running....but want to join a United States Army Ranger Battalion and become a Ranger ?????
I suggest you stay at home then.
