Vector Arms - AK-47

Post by Scoty »

Anyone have any dealings - good or bad - with Vector Arms?

I'm looking at picking up an AK-47 (stamped receiver/Polish parts, etc) for plinkin'....$375 out the door. Their website lists them in the $400's. $375 seems like a good deal.

Lets just put it this way only vector could screw up an AK47.

Their Ar's suck too

in my opinion your better off getting a romanian or chinese if you can find one.

I'm not saying it wouldn't run but vectors usually have more problems.

Taking notes, boys. Bulgarian, you say? He has a couple of them too...I'll check em out. You're right, I heard that 5.45 surplus might dry up soon.

They also make AK's for 7.62x39 and 5.56.

They are no longer producing the 105 but if you go to places like the Equipment Exchange on www.ar15.com you will find them for sale frequently.

Here is the post with a pic of my AKS-74:

One thing to consider about the 5.45x39 is the only ammo really available for it is Communist bloc surplus or made by Wolf. Most of it is corrosive so take a bottle of Windex with you when you go shooting.
That surplus 7.62x39 was some dirty shit also.

I purchased a Romanian with some Polish and the required American parts. I have nothing but positive things to say about both Vector and the weapon itself. Make sure you buy a front sight adjustment tool, you'll need it. Pure joy to shoot. 7.62x39 is definitly getting pricey but still cheaper than most.

I purchased an AK with the folding stock that looks like a fixed stock when extended- It also shoots M16 ammo - Really nice and when folded up its a pretty tight package. I am still trying to figure out the optics rail on the side of reciever especially how it is effected with the stock folded. I am also trying to stay organic with it by possibly getting a "Kobra" reflex sight for it in the future. Mags are smoke/clear for quick round count. The East German Bayonet fits nicley on it as well!
