I know that the names of SOF soldiers should not be given for PERSEC reasons, but when I was watching a show on Rangers on the History Channel ("Army Rangers" on Dangerous Missions) they gave the name and rank of active duty Rangers. How and why'd they do that?
Thanks,

PERSEC Question
Re: PERSEC Question
Most probably they obtained permission to film their show from the USASOC Public Affairs office. I think that show was quite possibly filmed before 9/11 and generally speaking OPSEC and PERSEC have been taken much more seriously following 9/11 than they were before 9/11.Malarkey87 wrote:I know that the names of SOF soldiers should not be given for PERSEC reasons, but when I was watching a show on Rangers on the History Channel ("Army Rangers" on Dangerous Missions) they gave the name and rank of active duty Rangers. OH, ok. Never thought about it being filmed before 9/11. That does make sense though. Most probably they obtained permission to film their show from the USASOC Public Affairs office.
