Gentlemen,
A former 1st platoon Bco 3/75 Ranger says howdy.
My service was from 1 April '91 to Sep '93. Yes that's right-missed Gothic Serpent by a few weeks. Over that now but still think of the six brothers we lost everyday. God bless Ranger Weaver who gave his life in Iraq. He was from third platoon and while on CQ one night in Feb '93 gave us first platoon tabbed spec fours more respect than we deserved. The third week of February was always brutal for partying as myself, Hawley, and Smitty(KIA 3OCT93) all had birthdays together. Anyway half the platoon was drunk in my room and we got the idea of trying to throw beer bottles into the RIP compound-well, none of them made it in and smashed all over our sidewalks. Sgt Weaver strides in and just stares. Smitty was a corporal and I was acting Wpns squad leader-we thought we were through. The only thing ever mentioned of the incident was his order to us to pick that stuff up asap. I finally thanked him in person at Rendevous in '01. A good NCO.
Just a note to Pilla's (KIA 3OCT93) friends, his dad Ben had a mild heart attack in early '03-he's doing OK, still loves to hear from DMP's friends. I visited them last March for a few days. Send me a PM if you need the number.
