sitrep from Kageryu311

Post by kageryu311 »

Good Afternoon all,

I am currently entering my 5th week of OCS. The past four weeks have been very interesting. In the first week I had an obstacle course and the combat water survival test. I recieved a first time go on both, thanks to a lot of swimming practice. the second week was classroom instruction leadership, combat operations, operations orders and military law followed by examinations. Week three consisted of map reading and land navigation classes and the fourth week was a week in the field to instruct us on land nav with the day and night land nav test. I passed both and will be going into the field again week 6. Thank you again for you guidance and I will keep you updated. As far as branching I was branched Signal, but I put in the paperwork to swap with my buddy for infantry.

Take Care,

Kageryu311

Good luck to you.

BTW, all branches are capitalized in Army writing style. I'd recommend you read up on that before you submit your first support form to the Company Commander.

update

Post by kageryu311 »

Update:

A few weeks have passed since my last update. I have recieved the branch swap that I have been waiting so long for. Now I am branched Infantry and slated to go to the 101st Airborne in a new BCT that will be forming next year. I will be commissioned on 22 November, the day before Thanksgiving and will head on to Airborne school 27 November. Further down the line I will be heading to BOLC II in January, IBOLC ( previously known as IOBC) in March and Ranger School in August. Now that I have my tentative timeline I am backwards planning to develop the best course of action for accomplishing my objectives.

More to follow,

I graduated from OCS yesterday and head to airborne school on Monday. I am now preparing for the next step and keeping my head in the game to focus on my objective, to get that tab.

Thank you for all of your advice,
