Gentlemen
I'm 22, a college student, and in the Nasty Guard (.... we all make mistakes). Graduated from basic this past November after 3 years college ROTC. Pretty much your regular leg, trying to keep up my PT score on the off time between drills. I'm an E-3 currently, though E-4 is right around the corner and couldnt come soon enough. I was able to weasel a slot for Air Assault in June, so I'm pretty stoked to finally start the "hoah" schools. My unit is scheduled for my first deployment later this year, and by the time I return to the states I should have just enough time to finish my degree before I re-up and go active, hopefully I'll be able to join some of my buddies over in 2nd I.D.

Why do you refer to your unit as the "Nasty Guard", and say you "weaseled" a school slot. Care to elaborate?
Oh, and by the way, Air Assault is not a "hoah" school. Female E-1's cooks can attend, this clearly disqualifies it.
Welcome

Knock off the attitude and man up -- you are going to deploy with this unit, so you had better get it right.

I know the maxium range for an excuse is 0, but in a feeble attempt to explain myself, I havent met one active duty soldier who didn't talk a henious amount of shit to or about NG soldiers. So I thought I'd skip all the BS and throw out a smartass remark of my own in order to speed things up. Was it the right call? I'm not even going to defend it, I'll just drop and push the ground till the rest of you get tired - I could use the PT anyways.
As for Air Assault - every little private fresh out of basic has their little list of schools that they want to attend, and I'm not even going to act cool and pretend that I didn't want to go and my unit was making me. I've wanted to be Air Assault and Airborn since highschool (among other things, but lets focus on the 25m target), this is just the first step towards that goal. Apolagies about my language, "weasel" wasn't the proper term, nor even close. My unit announced they had slots open and had try outs. I had a good enough PT score and completed the Obsticle course, so they gave me a slot.
Anywho, I'm going back to lurking and learning. Seeing as how I have a whole 5 seconds in the military, and even less on active duty, I'm not planing on starting too many topics so much as I'm planning on sitting on the side lines to learn a thing or two from the starters.
