Hey everyone, my name is Jay and I am a 19 year old male living in the Virgin Islands. I have a question that I would like answered if anyone is willing to answer. Currently, I have recently secured a GED and have been planning to finally follow my dreams of enlisting in the Army. For the past 2 years now, I have been very impresed with the operation record of the 75th and was very impressed with teh demands that the country places on you these soldiers. I for one have alwasy loved to shoulder more responsibility than any on individual and enjoy it when I work as a team and we all together put out max effort to accomplish our goals.
Now this brings me to my question, recently I have really started to delve into info about joining and came onto the information about the Option - 40 contract tjha tis available for qualified applicants, but was dismayed when I realized that GED holders are considered Tier 2m and the requirments to qualify with this degree was 625 hours of classroom time. My question was does the classroom hours take into account my prior time in secondary school(public highschool) or does it only count the hours of classroom instruction to get the GED. If my calculations are correct that would mean 6months of active 6.5 hrs a day/5 days a week of classroom time involved in getting the G.E.D, and I find that very disconcerting, cause I got the G.E.D, in one shot. Without any retakes, and home studying to brush up on my Geometry, science, and Trig.
Is there Option 40 contract holders on this forums who had to go through the Tier 2 requirements to secure the contract, and if so, can you post any experiences you had with your recruiter/MEPS contact?
Thanks for your time.
Jay
