cramil intro
Good Evening Rangers,
Here is my story
I am currently a SSgt in the Air Force Reserves, and I am working on putting a package together for Army OCS. I served on active duty for 4 years and deployed in '95 to Italy to support Operation Deny Flight/Deliberate Force. I transferred to the AF Reserves in 1997 to attend school full time and still keep my military ties. As a reservist I have participated in two short deployments to Incirlik, Turkey supporting OEF. I graduated in 2000 from Oregon State University with a BS in Mechanical Engineering then worked for a year as a project engineer and for almost 4 yrs now I have been an applications engineer.
I want to return to active duty and serve my country full time again and am choosing the Army because there are more opportunities for true leadership roles than in the AF. It is true that I looked to the AF first, but I have seen the light and am ready and willing to trade in by blues for Army green. I look forward to the more disciplined, mission oriented focus the Army offers. I hope to get branched EN but will gladly "bloom where planted". If I do get EN I am interested in sapper training and the small unit leadership and tactics that is the focus of the course.
My reserve unit was originally combat rescue and watching our PJs climb into the helos is the closest I have been to any true SF personnel. I have always had the greatest respect for the demanding training any SF member undergoes and the sacrifices they make on a daily basis.
My intentions here are simply the following:
1. Read and learn from the vast amount of information available on your great site in an effort to better understand what it takes to not only earn the title Army Ranger but what it means to truly live as a Ranger. Learning what I can from the best that have BTDT will help make me a more effective officer regardless of what MOS I end up in.
2. Better my physical training so that I am as prepared as I can to meet the physical challenges of OCS and if I am afforded the future opportunity, sapper leader training as well.
3. Participate only when I have a legitimate question not directly answered elsewhere, or when I have valid input that I can impart to a discussion.
4. Entertainment with a military perspective that some of the discussions here seem to offer from time to time.
Thank you for reading, and thank you for allowing me to participate.

"Bloom where planted?"
Grow your own dope... plant a fucking OC!
I hope you're not thinking this'll be an armyocs.com-style coffee clutch.
You're going to be a pain in the ass, I can feel it in my fucking balls.
Don't post for about two days and read the forums, make sure this is an environment you can learn in before you start engaging us in enlightening conversation and get your intestines handed to you in a sandwich bag.
If you want to be an officer of fucking combat arms bear this in mind...you're Bn CO will walk past you in your company area with a nod of aquaintance, but he'll stride straight up to a tab-wearing NCO and shake his hand.
That'll be the same hand that NCO will salute you with.
If you don't want to be that LT...you've come to right place.
