LRS Deactivation

So end of last FY there was a rumor going around that all LRSD's with the exception of 38th and 29th ID's were going away.

Any truth to that of just Internet rumor?

They are trying to fold them into RISTA, both Active Duty and Guard. It will be an uphill battle for LRSU's to survive as we know them.

25th LRSD just deactivated a few weeks ago, and 10th MTN deactivated several months ago. Not looking good for Active Duty LRSU's.

Talked with NGB, and National Guard LRSU's are slotted through FY 2008, and they are pushing to expand the MTOE to 188 effectively turning all into LRSC size elements.

im in 82nd lrsd and they talked about deactivating us this month but they decided to wait another year. there is a lot of talk about the diactivation of all the lrs units.
