Great example. Habitat for humanity; They sell you a house a ridiculously low interest rates, but your ass is gonna be swinging a hammer and slinging paint to fix it up with some sweat.Silverback wrote:Comrade...The Sleepy Doc wrote: I also believe in a hand up, not a hand out.

Isn't that a private venture? The Sleepy Doc wrote:Great example. Give'm a fish and you have fed them for one meal, teach them to fish and you have fed them for a lifetime! The Sleepy Doc wrote:Silverback wrote:Isn't that a private venture? The Sleepy Doc wrote: Great example. I think so... but it's still a great idea. The same could easily be done with public housing.
I guess what I am trying to say is: I am all for volunteering my time and or resources but I volunteer it...not the government.Silverback wrote:Isn't that a private venture? The Sleepy Doc wrote:Great example. CSM, I think that is true with all those type projects. The ones Jimmy Carter built were destroyed in just a few years.Silverback wrote:Yeah Obama is awesome at public housing ventures! The Sleepy Doc wrote:Silverback wrote: Isn't that a private venture?

But whatever happened to Republicans wanting less government and cutting spending. Every swinging dick that approved the 700 billion to subsidize banks should be fired. I don't care what party they are from. Having Obama's camp come out and say they want to redistribute wealth scares the shit out of me. I happen to be related to several burdens on society and they love this shit. Government cannot be the fixall when shit goes wrong. Michigan has been in a funk for years, some like to place all the blame on the auto industry and they were part of the problem. The problem lies in having to cover Detroit and subsidize every dirty fucking deal their government makes.BadMuther wrote: Liberals are all about big gov, don't let 'em fool you.
My wife used to volunteer for them until she discovered that the people being given the house, not buying at a low price and interest rate, were not among the volunteers helping to build them.RangerRon wrote:CSM, I think that is true with all those type projects. I plan on volunteering w/ Habitat for Humanity next year. I want/need to learn how to build a house from the ground up, and that seems like a good way to do it.Rangerguru wrote:My wife used to volunteer for them until she discovered that the people being given the house, not buying at a low price and interest rate, were not among the volunteers helping to build them.RangerRon wrote:CSM, I think that is true with all those type projects.
