Ding Dong the ban is DEAD!!!

Post by 1st Ranger »

Thanks to the sunsetting of the assault weapon's ban, here are a couple of pictures of my newly configured evil toys. I hope you all like them as much as I do.

Here is my Saiga 12ga before 9-14-04:

Here it is after:

I get a chubby every time I hold it. I hope to get a chance to shoot it this weekend. Image

Here is my SAR-2 after installing a Romanian folder (I had a fixed folder on it before):

Hope you guys like 'em. Now, I know I'm not the only war loving, gun owning conservative out there who's been waiting for the ban to die so that he could add some cool accessories to a gun or two. Lets see them!

I hear you about not wanting to put money in some fuckstick's wallet. I will leave it up to others about FFLs close to you, but here's what you can do to minimize the amount of money you give to local gunshops, if you can't find someone else to help you out. Find a shop that will transfer a weapon to you for a decent price. Then, get a copy of his FFL (has to be signed in ink to be valid - it can be a copy of his FFL, but he has to sign it), then find a place that has the weapon you want (Shotgun News, internet, wherever), then buy it from them after making arrangements to hold the weapon until you send them the FFL. I used to do it in Savannah all the time. I'd pay around $25 for the transfer fee plus another $5 for the background check. For instance, I bought my SAR-1 from Wholesale Guns and Ammo for $250 plus another 20 in shipping (I think), plus $25 for the transfer fee, plus $5 for the background check. All told, I payed right around $300 for the same gun that the gunshop had on the wall for $450. Shops tend to rip you off, but then, they have to make money some how.

I would hurry and buy pre ban stuff before the election. I have a "gut" feeling that afterwards we may be in for some more. Got hicaps for all my Glocks

W6,
I wouldn't hold my breath when it somes to hi-caps for the S-12 or S-20. Right now no one is importing them. However, there is a place in jolly old England that sells them for an arm and a leg (http://www.rusmilitary.com/html/c-deact_magazines.htm). There is also the fact that you cannot legally insert a hi-cap magazine in a S-12 if the shotgun hasn't been converted using the right number of US parts. That fact alone has scared a lot of potential importers of those magazines away. There is also the fear that if hi-caps start to flood the market, the BATFE might declare them a DD, just like it did with the USAS-12. That may be the main reason EAA won't import them, (*a theory only*). If their shotties becomes a DD, they can no longer import them = loss in revenue. Based on this, I hope we never see a drum for the S-12. Check out this website, it has a lot of great info: http://forum.saiga-12.com/index.php?.

That really wouldn't be a big deal. If a weapon becomes classified as a "Destructive Device" in order to keep the weapon you just need to fill out a form 1 and send it off with $5.00. You will get grandfathered because you already own the weapon. As far as I know there are only 2 shotguns that are considered destructive devices the USAS-12 and the Striker 12 also known as the "streetsweeper".

If I remember correctly a "destructive device" is a shotgun that can fire more than 10 rounds from a detachable magazine or drum. Don't quote me on that.

I hear you H8, but I'd just rather it not happen. A buch of hoops that I just don't want to jump through. BTW, did you ever go the SBR route with your AR?
