Green Beret

Post by Justin480 »

Although I have yet to meet a Ranger in person, I did get the oppurtunity to meet a Green Beret. I saw him at my high school which was the last place I expected to see him. My recruiter brought him so he could talk to me. I was so impressed, I never expected to meet a one before I left for the army. He said that he was just finishing up phase 5, then onto phase 6. He was very nice though and answered all my questions with no hesitations, I found it very informative and exciting. Just thought I should share with you all.

Justin, glad the man represented himself well. When I was in High School, I met an SF team and like you, was very impressed. Still, decided to go the Ranger route because I couldnt afford all the hairspray and makeup.

I'm not the way I am because I was a Ranger - I was a Ranger because of the way I am.

Don't know. I pretty much lost all my hair before I ever put a green beret on my head.

It wasn't that big of a deal to me at the time. I remember looking around the room where we were having this banquet and they told us to 'Don Berets' or something and all the looks of satisfaction among the others I had graduated the Q Course with. All I could think to myself at the moment was 'What's the big deal? I've already worn a Ranger Black Beret for three years, this is just a different colored hat".
