you're recruiter was pretty much right that he could get you back into the infantry, but nothing else.

Ranger H8 had a good idea for you back in your intro. go to a light unit, and talk to their LRSD. see about going to the 101 after you re-visit Benning. They should be getting ready to plus themselves back up by the time you get finished training.

examples of some good units include:

101 (LRSD and PFDR CO)
82, 10, 25 ( all have LRSD's)
XVIII Airborne Corps LRSC
173 Airborne
there is a LRSC in europe but i can't tell you much about them.
