Introductions-Future Soldiers

Post by matt21 »

My name is Mathew, I am 19 and I enlisted in December as an 11x. I have run some ultra marathons, a handful of 50k's, and I finished 40 something miles of a 50 miler and ended up getting lost  need to work on my land nav! I haven't done an apft test on myself yet. I will post those to this thread when I get the scores. I am currently following the 12 week preperation for RASP. My strength is improving. I worked my bench up to a 190 one rep, and my dead lift was 320. I can knockout a 5k in under 22 minutes. Those are a few statistics until I complete the apft. I have a lot of work to do though, my sit-up & push-ups are certainly going to take time.

Matt, If you truly want to earn a place in the 75th Ranger Regiment, you came to the right site. We at armyranger.com take a great deal of pride in the young men who pass through here on their life journey. Please tell us more about yourself. Where are you from and what is your report date for OSUT? Why do you want to be a Ranger? You have not established a PT baseline to build on, so we look forward to your posting your APFT scores within the next 72 hours. Most of the questions you might have can be addressed by using the search feature, located on the top right of this page. Please read the FAQs, as well as select stickies and threads. Never, never quit!

I am from Chattanooga, TN. My ship date is May 17. I had been reading a lot of special operations books when I was young and I wanted to join the Army right out of high school but my parents discouraged it. I am in my second semester of college, I ended up going against my parents wishes and signed up in December. Honestly I couldn't give a straight answer why I want to be a Ranger, I just know its the only thing right now that I do want to do. I want to kick down doors and shoot bad guys. Rangers do that. My pt is not quite what is should be, this is my base line.

Ranger Jim,

Thank you for reaching out to me sir. I just finished up with my last semester of my first year of college and finals were hectic. I have not been on the site in a while but I am steadfast in my study of the Ranger Creed, Soldier's Creed, Warrior's ethos, and my PT. I ship a week from today. I did a PT test today as soon as I read your reply.

Results:
Push ups: 70 on the dot
Sit ups: 60 on the dot
2 mile run: 13:39.99
Overall APFT Score: 260 on the dot.

It is not a perfect score my sit ups are holding me back. I have been running/rucking with weight to condition my joints. As well as standard scores I can do 10 strict pull-ups. I am going to hit basic training with an open mind and learn everything I can about soldiering before I get to RASP. I am pumped to get HOOAH, and I can't wait to jump out of a PLANE!

Make sure after checking that you have a full canopy, and lowering your ruck, that you land...on the dot.
