Are the Ranger Special Operations Vehicles (RSOV) still in action? The vehicles were Land Rovers deck out for us back in the 90's.

Re: RSOV
Nope, not sure when they went out of use, but they were replaced. Some of the newer Rangers could say better than me.

Re: RSOV
I bought my wife a Jeep which is all around a cool vehicle when the doors are off and the top is down. I would have rather got her a RSOV.

Re: RSOV
The RSOV is based on the Land Rover Defender 125. It's slow as shit (50-60 mph) but the 3 cylinder diesel can climb a tree.OP-FOR wrote:I bought my wife a Jeep which is all around a cool vehicle when the doors are off and the top is down. I would have rather got her a RSOV.

Re: RSOV
Thought it was the 110. Not sure they were ever available on the US market, but they are as common as Jeeps and F150s in the UK, and the go-to work vehicle of the Limey Landscaper.
90s were sold here for a couple years until we changed roadworthiness rules and it became a "tipping hazard". You can still find them used in pretty good shape, but you'll pay daerly and parts are a bitch.

Re: RSOV
You're probably right on the 110, it looks shorter to me. According to LR the 110 gets 10MPG City 12MPG highway(sucks) . My 3/4 ton Avalanche with 8.2 liter gas engine got 12.5 highway. My current rig gets 20 highway and it's diesel.RangerX wrote:Thought it was the 110. Re: RSOV
Most of the Defenders I see over there are diesel. Seems the Brits prefer diesel as their method of reducing fuel consumption. For what they pay for "petrol" I'm surprised there aren't a lot more hybrids - or donkey carts.
