Rangers, here is an update of my current progress. On 15 September, I was able to reserve an 11X Option 40 contract, and I went to MEPS on 16 September. I was medically disqualified because of I had Legg-Calve-Perthes' disease as a child. I was fully released for all activities when I was six, and I have had no symptoms since that. However, I do not have the medical records to show that, and the hospital said that they had destroyed their records. The CMO recommended approval for a medical waiver, but also advised me to get an examination from an orthopedist. I was told that with a favorable report from an orthopedist, I may not require a medical waiver. I have scheduled an appointment with an orthopedist for 2 October, which was the earliest date available.

Good SITREP. Ensure that he gives you a clean bill of health. If you have a medical waiver, you cannot get Option 40. Never, never quit!

Ranger Jim, I believe my medical visit went well. The doctor said that there is little remaining evidence of my condition and my hip is functionally normal. He recommended my release for all activities with no restrictions. I gave this report to my recruiter so that he can send up the med read. He is optimistic that I will receive a PULHES of 111111, but he is unsure if I will still require a medical waiver given this latest doctor's report.
