After loosing a bunch of stuff a few years ago not only do I back up to a CD periodically I also installed another hard drive. Makes it real easy to save a copy of important stuff. It is about half the size of my main HD but I use it only as a backup disk... no applications installed.

I agree with Ranger McD with this interesting tidbit.
Take a look at an external USB harddrive. I have one called a Lacie and it has 80 GB of storage. http://www.lacie.com/products/product.htm?id=10097 I think that it ran about $120 online(our IT guy bought it for me)
I know this is 'after-the-fact'

Iomega makes some external USB2 + Firewire drives also. The thing is, make sure you can get one that does not require installing a fucking driver if you can. If you do, then when you most need that data, you'll have to go chasing down the driver for the drive before you can use it.BadMuther wrote:That's a good idea...I also have a lot of stuff saved to a zip drive.

Porn!?! I unfortunately was unable to save any of your Porn, I recovered your financial info, tax info for the last 15 years, pictures of your entire family cataloged by age, date and relation (since the mayflower), first letter you wrote to your wife after you got outta hooah school, emails/letters from your mom and dad, the only remaining picture of your Great Grandfather in World War One right before the great victory on the Western Front, the last and only baby picture of your first child, your last will and testament, stocks & bonds, and the last remaining Cyber Copy of the Dead Sea Scrolls signed by the Apostle John himself......... but sorry I didn't find ANY PORN WHAT-SO-EVER. :)BadMuther wrote:Got a new hardrive, installed the mofo, and I am up and running on the desktop.
